Jerome from 2e3,
I do not agree fully to this statement. Debating, in definition, is simply about a discussion, of a public topic, that involves opposing view. A debate can be carried out both online and in real life depending on one's preference, but i'm almost certain most people would prefer to do it online.
Online debating allows the debator more time to think of the question and the answers are more prone to be more detailed and articulate thus, better answer can be found as more thoughts have been put into them.
Debating in real life tests the debator's thinking skills for there is a time limit and the debates tend to be more interesting for it allows for the debator's style to bring out his/her debate - his expression, his tone, his articulation. The views can indeed be as detailed as its counterpart but this hardly is the case.
I've chosen debating in real life over online debating for it is a joy to see others argue over the points and rebut others' in such short amounts of time, it is indeed amazing how other's could think so fast.
Smoking harms our health, makes one a public deterrence (although not necessarily), and all in all, burns a big hole in our wallets. For that few smoke one takes in, it not only harms your health but it also harms the others' around you as well, it is unfair and selfish of one to be even smoking.
Should smoking be legal before 18(or even after it)No and never, i strongly object this mindset!
Torture is unnecessary and inhumane for one, the victim is does not simply die but kept alive in the cruelest of ways, and two, there are better ways in getting the thing you want out of someone eg. Persuasion, Incentives etc. Would i ever torture someone?- Never
Fast food for some may mean fats and a lot of exercising to get rid of it, while for others, a way to indulge maybe after a hard days' work.
Now why was fast food created in the first place then? Its because everyone wants things done fast, and apparently in food too. We have approached the stage, for some, that to them, every minute, every second, means an opportunity to do something else more productive that even in the simpliest of waiting for food can be something they cannot bear to stand, thus they seek for fast food.
Now for the question, should the fast food culture be stopped? No, for 2 reasons- preferences and the lag of time. You can't stop someone from indulging themself in a hamburger, you can't get food done in 1 minute like fast food can. It all boils down to preferences and how much you're time you're willing to give out.
Even if we wanted to stop this fast food culture... How do we stop the fast food culture...?
How is "Reality Television" defined? We, as individual members of the society(Which conveniently isn't part of the television industry) may never know. These "Reality Television" could even be scripted for all we know, and i believe it is so for many of these programs tend to over-exaggerate things, and in the end, what ever "truth" that is still hidden beneath all the exaggeration becomes neglectable and are mostly discarded away as just another boring program...
I'm not trying to stereotype, oh no... for some of the "Reality programs" are actually pretty down to earth, but apparently, the phony ones just seem to out way the "real" ones.
In conclusion, i believe that Reality Television is, overall, detrimental to society
