Normally, I would answer the opposition; however, everyone in this debate know as well as I do that this is not the case, regardless of what is documented and presented. The state sends away innocent people on a regular basis. In 2001, a soldier named James Doyle was convicted of raping a trainee at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, due to the similar build and tattoo of an attacker in the middle of the night. The DNA proved his innocence, yet he was still convicted and served time for a crime he never committed. Things like this are not a rare happenstance and don't happen exclusively to any race or culture, but it's just another example of the federal government proving itself to be, in all reality, above the standard of the burden of proof falling on the accuser.
Religion was the result of their reasoning based on what they had been taught and raised to believe . It has no more influence than what you're referring to as "Reason" does. You're just putting your faith in a reason; a power out of the control of your own hands that influences you and the world around you.
Yes. One doesn't need to see a giant in the sky to see that. Look at the world and the various religions that have left a significant historical mark and you can see proof they existed. I'll go on a limb and assuse that OP understands the theory of relativity. We have a society based on a theory. Not tangible proof, or 100% absolute, just a theory. Just like any religious figures' existence. I digress. Take a look at world history, the proof is there that they existed, even if only in the form of a collected, accepted belief; like the theory of relativity is. It's the same thing. Today, people worship an abstract idea instead of a humanoid figure, but its' existence is hard to deny in one format or another.
