People do not expect too much out of medical science as there will always be new viruses/bacteria found. According to a research done by National Geographic, approximately 86% of species living on Earth have yet to be found. This shows that there are still so much more to uncover, so much more bacteria to cure. Furthermore, a recent outbreak of Zika virus is evidence that there are still so many different viruses that have yet to be discovered. Hence, due to the many undiscovered viruses and bacteria, people do not expect too much out of medical science as there will always be new diseases that have to be tackled.
From a pragmatic point of view, TV serves as a form of entertainment to gain revenue for the company. Cause they can watch movie also. Can Netflix and chill. You can see 4D numbers and can earn money too! Even "educational" documentaries such as "National Geography" have elements of entertainment infused in the programme, and it is also what the consumers have high demand for. Since such programmes are profit driven, producers will only want to record and film programmes that have high demand and ascertains profits and revenue for them.
