What is wrong with you? Talent shows, cartoons and water beds would all be a waste too if Olympics are. People participating in the Olympics aren't just running fast they are showing what they are capable of. and it is not a waste of money, it unites countries and the country which hosts it makes better infrastructure. So, the money is being utilised. Also, people like watching sports it is not a waste of bbc shows. Your message just proves you are an dumb and selfish person, who does not respect people's abilties and cannot see the big picture.
