In today's largely digitalized society, social networking websites have changed the way companies run their businesses. First of all, being present on such a platforms means the brand is utilizing more media channels, thus expanding its target audience reach. Moreover, social networking websites are a more personal way to engage with clients/ customers and create and increase the brand awareness. They can be used for strategic marketing/branding purposes in a combination with all other channels a brand accommodates in order to increase the impact of a campaign, for instance. Social media also gives companies the possibility to benefit from viral marketing, thereby to reach more people and involve them in an engaging conversation.
To be honest, I rarely watch sports games. I think the development of eSports is a logical consequence of the significant advancement in technology and the internet. Whether they are as enjoyable as conventional sport games are is a matter of individual preferences. For me, as someone who is looking for entertainment in the real world, eSports would not cause much of excitement or worship of a team or a player. At the same time, tech-savvy audiences would probably develop a sense of belonging to the game and respect for the players, just like people do in real life. However, I believe, sports fans will always be more attracted to visit the conventional sports events.
Within every common political system members of society agree to exchange freedom for protection by the state. For instance, most of us don't mind the cameras around every corner, because they've been put there to help the state fight crime. Moreover, it's true that institutions such such as NSA aren't interested in tracking down the ordinary individuals, but terrorist, mafia bosses, etc. So far so good. However, what NSA is doing with the freedom of its citizens, namely their personal records, goes far beyond taking safety measures for them. For instance, despite the ever growing social surveillance, crime and terrorism haven't been reduced at all. In fact, terrorism has only been growing creating a greater feeling of insecurity among society. Second, the problem has to be taken to an international relations level where the interests of many states are involved. Protection for Americans can therefore mean spying on other countries' political leaders in order keep the interest of USA. Then again, are the interests of the general public same as the interests of the political powers? Probably not... Big Brother is watching us not to protect us from the evil in this world, but to maintain its own interest and power, because information most essentially is power.
I believe mass media have a powerful influence on social opinions, regardless positive or negative. In the case of body art, media have, indeed, created a couple of stereotypes for people wearing tattoos and piercings. The first I can think of is the stereotype of the "bad boy" who drinks alcohol, smokes cigarettes, shows violence/rebellion , listens to rock/metal music and has hands covered with tattoos. This stereotype is mostly perceived as negative within our society. However, there are more stereotypes media have implanted in our heads that bring rather positive associations with people who have body art. Take, for instance, artists or people with extremely artistic personalities. Having tattoos can be attributed to being creative, authentic, open-minded, etc. In regards to stereotyping the image of people with body art i think media have brought both positive and negative associations. Moreover, you also need to consider current society as a living organism where different generations, cultures, subcultures , etc form various values and beliefs. Media do not influence them all in the same way. Within some demographics media might have a negative impact, and within others the impact can be positive.
I think a social media profile is reliable enough to give employers at least a general impression of what kind of person you are. If a job applicant feels concerned about content that could create a bad/ wrong impression to other professionals, he/she could always set up some extra privacy settings of the profile. I really think it's ones own responsibility to look after their image, regardless in real world or on the internet. Besides, there wouldn't be much difference between what a grown-up pretends to be in real life and what image he/she would want to have on social networks.. because in the end we always seek to be perceived by others as our better selves. Moreover, why would be desperately want a job that doesn't suite our personalities?
In my opinion, it does. Studying in an international environment goes beyond having fun with people from many nationalities. The most advantages of such studies are that students can actually experience the cultural differences and learn how to interpret them and adapt to new places. Being culturally aware in a global business society is a highly beneficial quality, and so is the agility in adapting to new environments. Most companies today value diversity, so I really think the international experience is a significant advantage for the future professionals.
I think it can be, as long as your incentive is to get cool inspirational images as newsfeed. It really depends on why you followed the brand in the first place. I am personally very attracted to such fashion images and I can enjoy them alone without any supportive information. On the other hand, If my intention is to actually purchase from that brand, my decision would require more than just nice images from them. Yet, there is a difference between following a fashion brand just because your general interests include fashion and following it because of being interested in the brand and its products in particular.
In a world with myriad news sources, journalists are extremely challenged to be the first to report the latest events. In fact, they always have been, because news is about.. well, announcing something new. However, competition has grown and journalists today have to be a lot more faster, thereby checking less for mistakes and innaccuracies. Another reason why inaccuracy in news is growing has to do with the corruptibility in journalism. We all know how manipulated media are, so it's logical that some news is just serving the interests of a third party. Information itself is very easy to manipulate, because it allows various interpretations and angles from which to be presented.
