I disagree to your argument. Hence, I would like to rebut your point that technology is more of a bane than a boon to society.

Firstly, I think your evidence is irrelevant to the point that you are trying to state. In your point, you state that “advancement of computer games and handphones can cause a person to isolate himself/herself from their families and friends and even death.” However, in your evidence, you state that “A 25 year old teenager died out of blue to poor health-sleeping late at night”. What do you mean by poor health-sleeping? Stress? Playing computer games until late at night? Homework? Poor health-sleeping may not be the consequence of playing too much computer and handphone games. There are other factors that may be the causes for it. Furthermore, a 25 year old person is not a teenager anymore; hence I can conclude that your evidence is unreliable.

Secondly, this is one of the points that prove maybe technology is more of a bane than a boon to society. We cannot just based on this point and deduce that indeed technology is more a bane than a boon to the society. Should we overlook the benefits that technology brings to the society? I believe there are more benefits that technology brings to the society than disadvantages.

Thirdly, advancement of computer games and handphones games may not be a bad thing. There are also educational games that allow us to learn more about a certain topic through the game. There are students who dread of boring and long lessons, hence they do not pay much attention to the lesson in school. Instead, they are able to use these fun and interesting educational games to learn more about it. Computer games may be perceived more as promoters of mayhem than serious subject matter, but they have the potential to teach children rich content, critical academic skills for literacy and math learning, and the kinds of creative thinking and processes needed for later success, according to a new report. This evidence is from http://www.edweek.org/dd/articles/2009/06/23/04games.02.html. Therfore, computer games may not be a bane to society as it can also help to enrich us with crtitical thinking skils and more.

I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society. Without technology, the society will not have cars, televisions, internet and more!

However, technology has created lots of social networking portals. For instance, the Facebook. FAcebook is a popular portal whereby students, parent, working population use. With the Facebook, we are able to see other people what really is feeling today or trying to say. With over 500 million users, Facebook is now used by 1 in every 13 people on earth, with over 250 million of them (over 50%) who log in every day. So,I agreee that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society as we are able to meet new friends and know the latest news of the world. Also, we are able to let out our unhappiness on Facebook.
