Russia made a bad decision for several reasons. Obviously the resources that were eventually discovered were worth a lot more than what Alaska was sold for. But there is another argument to be made, Alaska was never Russia's to sell. Russia forcefully took control of Alaska and enslaved natives. These practices are now considered entirely immoral. Just as societies try to make up for previous wrong doing native peoples should be given more reparations.
