Replace: Replacing, where possible, experiments using animals with alternative techniques such as cell culture, computer modelling or human volunteers instead of animals.

Reduce: Reducing the number of animals used, by improving experimental techniques and sharing information with other researchers so that the same experiments aren’t being done by many people.

Refine: Refining the way the animals are cared for to help minimize any stress or pain, by using less invasive techniques where possible and improving medical care and living conditions."

I agree with this website, because you could replace animals and use human volunteers or computer simulations. If you didn't want to replace animals, then you could reduce the amount of animal use.

I believe there are viable alternatives to using animals for testing that are proven effective. We shouldn't have to use animals to benefit products for ourselves.

Using this link: https://www.neavs.org/alternatives/in-testing Proves the point.

SOME ALTERNATIVES TO THE USE OF ANIMALS IN TESTING INCLUDE:

-in vitro (test tube) test methods and models based on human cell and tissue cultures

-computerized patient-drug databases and virtual drug trials

-computer models and simulations

-stem cell and genetic testing methods

-non-invasive imaging techniques such as MRIs and CT Scans

-microdosing (in which humans are given very low quantities of a drug to test the effects on the body on the cellular level, without affecting the whole body system)

This subject is sort of difficult to pick a side for. However, in the end it comes down to how researchers treat animals. Lab animals are treated terribly, and are subject to being physically abused (chemical exposure, infliction of wounds/burns, etc...). Furthermore, based off of this document (http://www.hsi.org/campaigns/endanimaltesting/qa/about.html??referrer=https:// www.google.com/) animal testing isn't actually that efficient. It explains that using computer simulation provides a much more reliable test as we're able to use human genetics, as compared to animal genetics. While it is helpful to test potential drugs and medicine on an animal, there will always be the first human to be tested on.

Although animal testing has contributed to the medications we have today, some animal experimentation's do not help in the study of the medications. In some cases, the model of the animal disease differs from the model of human diseases. Because of this, the effects of the medication on the animal differ from that of the effects on the humans. In some cases, the drug could cause no harm to the animal but it does cause harm to humans. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4594046/ In this article, it talks about the issues with successful translation to humans of data from animal experimentation.

I think it is cruel. Animal testing can be very cruel to the animals so we should ban it.
