Cosmological arguments will never work. Who created the creator? And why does it have to be limited to a single Creator? Perhaps there are a long line of creators, having created each other until one creates the universe.
And if the Creator is outside the universe then he can't be made up of matter/energy and therefore would not have a "true form" in the first place, which means that proving his existence is impossible and such a being would be extremely alien to our human understanding. All theories and religions, from Christianity to Hinduism to Pastafarianism, all based on our mere primitive and futile attempts to understand this being outside our universe, might be all equally false or equally true in describing whatever is the true form of this creator.
Teaching children how to distinguish between reality and fiction is a far cheaper and more guaranteed alternative to banning entire media. If a child knows the difference between reality and fiction the less likely he is to enact fiction in reality.
First of all, the Government cannot make laws simply because you felt bad or jealous about it. Imagine if we banned all veggies because they taste bad. The government would collapse from the unrealistic irrationality of such a feat, from the hatred of the majority, and from the costs of such a Thought Police (Hence why prohibition was a catastrophe). It seems that you feel jealous about what other people think, which will eventually lead to your downfall. If a medium is to be banned then it has to involve real non-consensual violence or exploitation, thus you have to prove that the pornographers used human trafficking, rape or fraud. Prove that there were real victims rather than just people who "felt bad about it".
Second, consensual porn is an art medium and therefore can be protected by First Amendment rights. As I said, an art or other form of media can only lose their rights if it involved non-consensual violence or exploitation. This is why we tolerate adult porn, but detest child porn and rape (because they have victims).
Third, he is simply looking at the medium, as with all offensive art forms, but at least he is not having sexual intercourse with it! The golden rule in watching media: If you don't like to watch it, look away. Enough said.
Violence on television and video games can also instead make your children too fat and lazy to be interested in real violence. The imitation of the violent effects of television comes mostly when you forget to teach your children the boundary between reality and fiction. It's fine as long as you educate your children constantly that it's fine to relieve some pressure through fiction but not onto other real people.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
