Really? If the US doesn't use the nuclear weapon, as you are proposing, then how precisely is a nuclear power weaker than a non-nuclear power? Remember, if we don't use the bombs against Japan, we still have two in our possession to protect ourselves from communism. The USSR doesn't become a nuclear power until 1949. The United States has a window of four years where it is the only nuclear power. You should be able to draw your own conclusions from that.

I also have to ask: was the US weaker at the end of the war? In economic terms that would be far from true. So what are you basing this off of?

That is purely baseless conjecture. You don't know, and cannot prove that.

You expect someone to waste $2 billion dollars to end a war their opponents started?

Out of curiosity, do you have numbers to back up your statement. And a follow up question to that: Are those inmates christian when they are incarcerated or are the converted later?

And to the person above you: Really? How is a statement like that supposed to get you someplace? Grow up and don't call someone names because they happen to disagree with you. That only serves to alienate them further.

I think what the other person was getting at is this: given a completely homosexual population, the odds of survival, ignoring the question on how a completely homosexual population survived in the first place, are essentially non-existent.

Am I against homosexuality? Yes, I am. Do I think that legislating this type of morality is a good thing, not really.

I had a really good laugh, outlawing war. Kellogg briand Pact ring any bells for anyone on here?

Dropping the bomb was a regretful, but necessary step. Unless of course you are suggesting that an AMERICAN president send AMERICAN citizens to certain death. All to end a war the JAPANESE started. It is always quite funny when people bring ethics and war together after the fact.

To clarify further; I am opposed to nuclear weapons. Do I think Truman should have sacrificed hundreds of thousands of further American lives to end a war they didn't start? Of course not.

I have no hard data to back up the number I threw out. From my (somewhat) limited understanding of Japanese culture and the situation in Japan before the bomb was dropped, Japan wasn't going to surrender anytime soon.

Interestingly enough, no-one asked you.

Please stop generalizing. Say "THOSE AMERICANS R no better than the Taliban". In this case you would be referring to the people who committed the act, not everybody and their grandmother.

And on an ending note: Thanks for putting me on the level of suicide bombers who are out killing innocents.

Funny, because almost every American does not view themselves better than everyone else. Sure you will get the occasional crazy one, but the vast majority? Stop generalizing.

For the record, I am strongly against urinating on Taliban members. Regardless of the atrocities that said Taliban members may or may not have committed.

Can't really think of anything else. Maybe I should have studied a little harder.
