Ray Comfort's banana argument. Without a doubt! The only way I could explain it is; banana good for man, so banana made for man!
To claim that a lack of religion based on evidence, reasoning and science is in itself a religion is absurd. atheists don't rely on faith to tell us about a magic man in the sky. We rely on our own brains.
That's an ad hominem fallacy. You're attacking the arguer instead of the argument.
Doesn't saying "Taking a moral position does not necessarily mean taking a religious position" completely go against the argument?
We don't need a universally objective moral standard, just a personal one. One that most people fundamentally have. A moral standard based on empathy and human decency. The idea that without objective morality, we'd all be inherently monstrous is completely wrong.
You're assuming that everybody follows a single ideology, which is completely untrue! You realize that Germans during the Nazi regime weren't all genocidal anti-Semitics. A minority simply manipulated decent people to get into power. Not everybody followed the Nazi ideology, ergo your premise is inherently flawed.
By your own personal moral compass! You work it out for yourself! If we only act morally because some magic man in the sky is watching us, that's not morality at all! That's a false sense of morality created through fear!
If God is omniscient and omnipotent as he is claimed to be, these laws mean nothing. From a classically theistic view, there's no reason he couldn't design a human without the need to obey the biological laws that HE put into place. To claim that an omniscient God is restricted by his own biological laws is frankly nonsense.
Cars pass gas because when they were designed, we had no other way of powering them. It's ridiculous to claim that a supposedly omniscient and omnipotent God would beer physically unable to avoid this.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
