{How do your examples show the importance of profit for a business?}

It's self-evident. Without profits, a business would not survive. Simple as that. They need a profit for themselves, future investments in their own business, a responsibility to stock holders, bank debt repayment, etc. I don't understand why you don't get it. Obviously, you don't own a business.

{It could just as well be focused on civic responsibility.}

They need PROFITS to provide civic responsibility. How can they donate without profits.

True, they could provide 'civic responsibility' such as donating to the NRA, anti-Obamacare groups, anti-gay marriage groups, etc. I have no objection to that BUT they need profits first.

If businesses want to provide a civic responsibility, that is their volition, not something for your wish list.

{Half of the views of Fox are 68 or older.}

Advertisers looking for younger potential customers have more options, including the Internet and smaller cable networks. MTV (median age 23), Comedy Central (31), E! Entertainment (34), FX (38) and Bravo (42) are among the networks that have siphoned younger viewers away from broadcasters.

In other words, the youngsters are looking to be entertained, not informed. Sad, isn't it. They don't even bother to get a chopped up, half hour of national news. I'm not too worried about Fox losing its good audience.

{Do you want me to start listing evidence?}

Sure. Go ahead. You won't find any.

BTW, have you ever watched Sharpton on MSNBC? Talk about race baiting. When Keith Olbermann was on the air, he was the primary hater. Sharpton and Maddow and Schultz have filled in for him. To a degree, so has Lawrence O'Donnell.

{...the shooting of unsuspecting soldiers from a concealed and relatively safe position...}

Ah. I see you know nothing about war.

Have you ever been out on ambush where the shooting of unsuspecting soldiers from a concealed and relatively safe position is the purpose of the ambush? If you stand up and say, "Get ready. We're here to ambush you. We've given you fair warning. Let the firefight begin.", you will lose a lot of your own men.

My son-in-law was a Marine sniper in Iraq and Afghanistan. What a grunt doesn't do, he does for them. Look at it this way: for every enemy the sniper takes out, he may save 1,2 10 or more grunts. If the enemy is waiting with an AK-47 or an IED, the sniper takes him out before that can be done. Thus, snipers are heroes.

Terrorists kill the unarmed, unaware innocents. There is a big difference.

{Half of the views of Fox are 68 or older. In the coming years a good portion of their viewers will die,...}

As the article says...

With a median viewer age now at 68 according to Nielsen data through mid-January (compared with 60 for MSNBC and CNN, and 62 to 64 for the broadcast networks)

So, we're not exactly saying that 25 and 30 year old people are flocking to CNN and MSNBC. I don't think a 25 year old would say a 60 or 64 year old viewers was a young audience.

Whoever eventually takes over the viewership in 10 or 20 years or so makes no difference to me. As I see it, the future will be a dystopian society suffering as Winston did under O'Brien (if Obamaism survives.) I just feel saddened that my daughters and granddaughters will have to live in such a world.

Interesting graph. Fox is still way ahead.

I agree that CNN and MSNBC are garbage news agencies but Fox is not.

Remember, they are distinct agencies. They promulgate news and news related programs all day long, 24/7. No soaps. No survival shows. No silly garbage interest shows and cooking, etc. So, in that way, they are doing a public service. While MSNBC and CNN come off like the Comedy Channel and avoid hard hitting news that doesn't support Obola's positions and policies, Fox is a breath of fresh air.

{Fox popularity will wain}

When, exact;y, do you anticipate that? Fox scores in the millions with viewers and MSNBC and CNN score well below that viewership.

{Hell, Jon Stewart himself has described the show as "fake news" on numerous occasions.}

Really? Fill them in first about the 'fake news'.

Online Poll: Jon Stewart Is America's Most Trusted Newsman

Well, in a result that he will probably accept as downright apocalyptic for America, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart has been selected, in an online poll conducted by Time Magazine, as America's Most Trusted Newscaster, post-Cronkite. Matched up against Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, Stewart prevailed with 44 percent of the vote.

MSNB ALL IN W/ CHRIS HAYES 561

Don't worry. They will soon be replacing Chris Hayes with Rachel MadCow Maddow (if she wants to see her ratings plummet by broadcasting at the same time as O'Reilly.) LOL

{national statistics are PROHIBITED by law put into place by NRA lobbying on behalf of the gun manufacturers and dealers.}

Do you have a reply to my previous reply asking for a link to your assertion and asking where you got your misinformation from? If not, you lose.

Previously, you stated:

{the NRA is nothing more than a lobby shop for the gun manufacturers and firearms dealers, who's sole mission is to SELL MORE GUNS.}

You seem to have a hard time with businesses making a profit.

{Taking stuff without paying is stealing.}

I never said anything about stealing. I was referring to businesses that were not interested in profits would or should be willing to give stuff away. If a gun's market price was $750.00 and they sold it for, say, $200.00, they would avoid making a profit and therefore go out of business. That's not the way the world works. Or they could simply give their wares away and make even less of a profit. Every business is out for profit. Why should gun manufacturers be any different. You seem to find fault with that.

{It could just as well be focused on civic responsibility.}

And just what 'civic responsibility' would that be? They provide a service and a product to the market place. Beyond that, nothing else is their responsibility. They do not provide weapons to criminals and gangs. They come by those weapons illegally to support their criminality, not the gun manufacturers nor the NRA.
