You only mentioned about online technology. How about washing machines, mobile phones, fans, etc? Washing machines allow less rivers to be polluted as people would not need to share water which might be used millions of times for washing. There are many different aspect for it, thus you cannot judge something with just one point of view. One have to look at it from many different views in order to achieve a less bias result. Therefore, this reason might be correct, but there are more which can rebut over it.

Since you said that it is a essential need in our modern life why is it more of a bane? Listening to music, chat with friends on the mobile phone and gaming with video consoles are forms of relaxation which allows one to rest from all the busy schedules in life. People get to communicate with one another more easily and there is more entertainment in life. Going outdoors to spend their leisure time, but Singapore is so small, one would not want to kept going out to the same place over and over again, as time passes by they would get bored of the place they are going. So how is this better when there are much more entertainment? Moreover, there are many more technology not only entertainment side. Yes I agree.There are many types of technology in the world that we uses everyday. Like the computer, phones, airplanes, washing machines etc. Without them, lives would be much more difficult. Imagine, without washing machines, how much more time will be wasted to wash it with hands? Almost everyone has a hand phone now to contact people in Singapore and even around the world. Without technology, there will be no social networking sites. Research has shown that social networking allow us to expand our circle, communicate with one another, advertise and even find a job.
