I agree when you say that a uniform limits the students freedom. Especially as I love dressing up myself.

However, I don’t get why it would affect their performance in a negative way at school when they’re not allowed to wear their own clothes ?

An argument for school uniforms is that students may be encouraged to pay more attention and focuse more on their education than their appearance. Due to wearing the same clothes, no one will really care about their outfit anymore. Some people simply love to express themselves with their style and their clothing in general but what we forget is that planning such an unimportant factor actually takes a lot of time. If there were uniforms, students would have more time to learn or just do other educational tasks as the planning of your „super stylish“ and „iconic“ outfit eliminates. Not to forget, a nice side effect is that you can sleep longer and therefore aren’t as tired. This adds up for you being more efficient and attentive in your lessons.

In short, the Fis Bamberg should introduce school uniforms because it can increase your performance at school.

School uniforms are said to be able to create a certain unity between pupils and may sometimes avoid arguments or even bullying. Since all students are literally wearing the same clothes, no one can express their distaste for certain pieces of clothing or certain brands.

However, all of the above seems a bit far-fetched to me. I don’t really think that a piece of clothing can prevent all students from getting bullied by itself. Bullying isn’t only about clothes, it‘s more about the person itself and their distinction to the „ideal teenager/ human“. Surely, clothes can contribute to that but even if we would all wear the same things, we‘re definitely not dumb; we know who has other interests, is affluent or doesn’t have as much money. In addition, bullying doesn’t only happen at schools, it happens extracurricular as well. Therefore, it would be a lot more beneficial to get pupils to realize that harassment is not okay apart from whatever the reason is rather than introducing uncomfortable clothes that don’t leave much space for personal taste or creativity.

In conlusion, my opinion is that the fos Bamberg should keep school uniforms at bay as they’re not the main point of bullying and they wouldn’t be efficient enough.
