In single-sex schools, there are almost no relationship rumors. These rumors cause students to focus more on proving the students passing the rumors wrong rather than focusing on their studies. Thus, in single-sex schools, students can focus more on their studies rather than worrying about these rumors.
There will be no depression caused by rejection from the other sex. For example, a girl likes a boy who does not like her back. She will be depressed and focus more on impressing him rather than focusing on her studies. In this case, depression may not seem so big of a deal but gradually, it may lead to dark thoughts.
Boy-girl relationships will not affect students in their studies. For example, a boy is in a relationship with a girl. He will obviously pay more attention to her than to his studies in order to satisfy her. This will cause him to lose out on his studies and he will not do well in the future.
