Good job, Melanie Leftakes. I agree with your argument. Also, slavery was very popular in America. A lot of change occurred as result of the Revolution and new concepts were created all the time, Darwin's being one of them. They became widely accepted and scientists greatly influenced others beliefs in Darwin's theory.

I agree, Melanie Leftakes, with your explanation. There are many different similarities and differences between the two. They both do believe in natural selection, but Darwinism favors evolution and the growing of mankind. Social Darwinism believes in artificial selection.

Similarities between the two are that they both favor natural selection and choosing species that are to live and to die. But, Social Darwinism believes in survival of the fittest, that contradicts Darwin’s theory. Darwin believed in evolution of the human race, not the destruction of it.

I agree with the statement that Darwin’s concepts have contributed to eugenics. This is because both ideas have to do with nature and the change in our environment. Also, the discoverer of eugenics had been influenced by Darwin’s ideas. This proves that they both have to do with one another, including the belief in natural selection, selective breeding, etc.

In Europe and America, the Industrial Revolution was taking place. This is where the invention of new things started to happen, making Europe discover new ways of life and thinking. Darwin's concepts had an influence on the people living in his time because they were learning so many new different things at once. After the acceptance of his concepts by scientists, his ideas became more accepted worldwide.
