From a personal standpoint I prefer older music. I like all genres of music from pop, country, rap, rock, even polka. Yes I like polka even. But I can't connect to the newer songs as much as I can the old ones. Besides a sick beat, great rhythm, and meaningful lyrics I like a story in my songs. I like to be able to close my eyes and imagine exactly what this person felt like when they were writing this song. I want to be able to feel every emotion they intended to put in their song. I have only found a few songs from today that do that for me. As for older songs, I can relate to them. They have great stories, keep my mind off things, and make me "feel". What else could you ask for in a song?
Disney princesses are teaching kids some good life lessons I do give them that. But there are so many more hidden factors that most people don't see. Every Disney princess has a prince. What if your kid thinks that they cant be happy without a man in their life. Almost all of them live a great life. I don't see any princesses with real world problems. If you think that love is a real world problems then open your eyes. How about we get a princess with an eating disorder or depression or something that teaches kids how to cope with serious things. Instead we are feeding our kids the knowledge that the only thing that could possibly go wrong in their life is not finding love. When they grow up and realize that they have so many problems that have nothing to do with love they will think they're alone on that. If they think they're alone they will think they are different. They won't want to get help in fear of being different. Not getting help could lead to serious problems. Just think about it.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
