Extraterrestrial life probably exists, but intelligent species would be uncommon and so spread out across the universe with millions of lightyears between them. This makes it near impossible to travel between the species within the lifetime of the organism.
Aliens would also have to find Earth, which would require that they are able to detect signals from our planet, but these only reach out a hundred lightyears or so, meaning that alien species would have to be in that range in order to detect us.
The chance of aliens ever visiting Earth is essentially non-existent.
I'm not sure which camp you fall into, so I'll leave you with two responses, and you can pick the most relevant.
If you think that being gay is a choice....
- When did you choose to be straight?
- Why would anyone choose to face oppression?
- What evidence do you have of this?
If you think it's nurture...
- How does it happen?
- Why does it happen?
- Why does it mean that people shouldn't have the same rights as others?
Even if we were you assume your premise to be true, that doesn't mean that people shouldn't also have the right to marry someone of the same sex.
The issue is actually about the right to marry the person you love, and about the legal recognition of same-sex relationships. These relationships are no different than those of opposite-sex couples, so why shouldn't there be the same right to get married and receive legal recognition and benefits of marriage?
