I think 15-year-olds should be able to have a learner's permit, but not a full license. People of the age of fifteen are just not mature enough. Besides, most jobs won't even hire until you are sixteen or older. Many 16-year-olds aren't even mature enough to drive! With a learner's permit, you have to drive with a legal, licensed adult over the age of 21, so you will most likely be paying more attention, and if something were to happen, the adult could take over. Not all states do this, but at 16, where I am from, if you have had your learner's permit for six months and pass the test, you can get a provisional license. With that, you can drive by yourself, but you can only have one extra passenger. After six months of that and after passing the test, you can get an almost complete license. Then the last step is turning 18. But back to the case at point, 15-year-olds should not be allowed to drive. 14-year-olds should DEFINITELY not be allowed to drive. Did I want to drive at 14? Duh! But now I look back and realize that I probably would have killed someone.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
