A stereotype is a popular opinion an individual or a group has about another group (grouping in this case is subjective, based on some common trait shared). It is always about a group.

Sometimes it's the reputation that the group has acquired in the eyes of people, for doing certain things noticeably more than the general public. People take notice and start generalizing, even if majority of the group in question does not do whatever it is they are stereotyped upon. For example, "muslims are terrorists". Vast majority of followers of islam are very peaceful people who love their families and won't ever bomb or shoot anyone. On the other hand, vast majority of known terrorists are islamic,(see FBI most wanted list) and their propaganda is purely religious (jihad, the holy war). Terrorism is designed to generate much impact on the public mind with effort of very few individuals, and if those individuals claim they are doing it in the name of allah it's hard not to associate terrorism and islam, and, as a consequence, not to stereotype accordingly. And yes, it's a statistically supported fact of life that there are more terrorists per thousand people in the islamic world than in the christian or buddhist world.

Other times, it's just an image. The word "redneck" carries with it a certain image, albeit slightly different from person to person.

Stereotypes can be positive, too. In fact, the same group can have both positive and negative stereotypes attached to it. For example, "asians are industrious". They are also notoriously stingy and are bad drivers. The former, even though a stereotype, is actually quite true. Last I checked, asians lead in percentage of both undergraduate and post-graduate degrees by about 10pp. Europeans follow, then latinos, and negros are at the end of the list. Having much education is a good indicator of being industrious (or lazy) as it takes much effort to study that long. They are stingy, true, but that only applies to immigrants and comes from growing up in poor countries. Same goes for bad driving--these people never had cars and bought their first later in life.

As you can see, many stereotypes can have logic behind them. Few important things to remember, though:

1. They only really apply to groups. A group member is simply more likely than a member of general public to be similar to the stereotype.

2. The grouping trait (race, religion, nationality etc.) rarely can be proven to be contributing to stereotypical behavior. It's mostly just correlation, not cause-effect relationship.

3. Nothing about people is absolute. The words "all" and "every" or "none" cannot be used with stereotypes. Good expressions are "tend to be more..." or "do (something) more often".

How are stereotypes useful? Not all real guns are loaded, but you treat them with more respect than water pistols, at least until you make sure that the particular one in your hand is not loaded. It's all about chances.

Communism in Russia took over in 1917, it has already collapsed in 1991. I'd say it's a rather strong testimony to the idea that communism is not sustainable. Same will happen to North Korea.

The only reason the Republic of China is still surviving is because their leadership realized in time that it is the principles of capitalism that would keep their economy going. Right now China cannot possibly be called communist. It's completely capitalist. What they name themselves does not matter. They operate like a capitalist economy. Their government will sometimes exercise power and prohibit a thing or two, but in general they let their economy run capitalist.

Also, don't forget that communism is basically an agreement among members of a society about equal everything. Nobody makes more than any other, there is no money etc. Complete self-government without official government body. It's practically impossible to run anything larger than a village that way. In fact, communism by definition is one of the forms of anarchism. It never really was able to sustain itself except for a small group of people for a short time (some utopian group tried it once and failed). It was impossible to create even though bolshevicks in Russia tried. They immediately realized it would not work in pure form on a large country and went with the "next best thing"--Soviet Socialism, which still failed. USSR was never truly communist. USSR stands for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

Crap like feminism is only possible in a civilized society, where men are just too nice and ALLOW women to get all these rights. And now, American males are so pussy-whipped that they won't even dare to take a stand. Home of the brave is long gone. Ass-kissing metrosexual fag time is in.

In general, I say give women same rights, but forget about different treatment in any law, regulation, office, or courtroom, which is what we have now. Hence I think the modern day feminism is hypocritical and destructive.

Feminism in America has succeeded and already has gone too far. There are laws that give preferential tax treatment to businesses owned or hiring women, so men have to carry a heavier tax burden than women. Why are these idiotic laws being passed to balance perceived inequality? Men make more money because they are more capable of making more money. Don't try to blame your own incompetence on some non-existent equality issue. For those of you who want to dispute, name one right that men have that women do not. There are none. If anything, women have more rights, and I already mentioned one. Yet they still make less money. And complain about it. That's a clear case of denial about one's own incompetence.

Women get preferred treatment in case of child custody, divorce, they decide whether to have a child or not, even if the father is for (or against) it. They'll have a kid, against the father's wishes, then make him pay alimony. Equal rights my ass.

There are still feminists claiming they are being handicapped for three reasons:

1. They are too stupid realize they just can't compete.

2. Feminism is their life's pursuit, if they stop complaining now, what are they going to do? They'll lose purpose in life. What about those who run feminist organization or lobbyists? They'll be out of a job. Of course they HAVE to continue whining, if only to get a paycheck.

3. If you know how to get rights, why not get more rights, even if it's unfair? It's human nature to want more. Inequality only looks bad if YOU are the one with less rights.

There are special tax benefits for businesses owned by women and minorities. There are special tax benefits for businesses hiring women and minorities. Tax benefits come out of your taxes, guys. The government takes YOUR money and subsidizes them. What kind of "equality" is that? Ever tried to get a construction contract with the city of Chicago? Good luck if you're a white male business owner.

Then there is the ridiculous treatment of men in divorce courts. 70% of divorces are initiated by women, because they are just too unstable personalities to stay in a committed relationship (although keep whining about guys not wanting commitment). The truth is, women don't care about commitment when it's inconvenient for them. Ever seen a committed 18 year old? When they are the hottest and most desired, they have choices and don't care about commitment. Men at that age aren't much, they are still maturing and don't have money or careers yet. By late 20s girls are past prime and have to try much harder to get male attention. Men at that age have matured, have jobs and many are 6 or more years into a career. Tables turn and men have choices now. Why would they go and immediately get hitched at such great time just because some aging chick thinks it's time to settle down? Of course men don't. And that's when whining starts.

And how about complete disregard for father's rights? If both parents are legally obligated to support the child, why is the woman the only one deciding whether to have him or not? Or in a more wholesome case, why do judges extend preferential treatment to mothers when it comes to custody?

I say the white male is the group with least rights in American society. Yet it is being vilified and more rights are being taken away, not without the help of politicians who only care about votes.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with fighting for equality. But since women nowadays are equal, they should be treated as such, in any situation. For people with equal rights in the same situation, only their abilities determine where they are going to end up. Men are naturally stronger, and I bet you very few of women will be able to put up much resistance if all the guys decide "fuck these emancipated bitches we're taking these life boats for ourselves". And considering how many special rights women get in business and workplace nowadays, I certainly won't hesitate to save my own life first.
