I think that American voters are more informed than video like this makes them seem. If the people making the show are out to entertain people, then they wouldn't go out to talk to informed people that really know the people they support in this election, whichever side it may be. If the show went out and interviewed people, I'm sure that they chose the ones that were the funniest, and those are the people that we see. I think that in the past, the American voter could have gotten by being ignorant of the issues and ignorant of the politicians that they were supporting, but today, the issues are important enough where voters need to be informed about the policies and the agendas of who they are voting for. This is a pretty important election, and I don't believe that America can survive with hordes of uninformed, ignorant voters flocking to vote that have no idea what they are doing. Also, in today's world, there is no excuse for being uninformed! There are news channels that run 24/7, there is radio, there is the internet, and there has always been the newspaper. There is no reason for someone who can manage to vote to not be able to inform themselves on the candidates. Posted 52 days ago | Tagged As: Informed Voters
It's pretty naive to say that Earth is the only life-supporting planet. The universe is big, and there are a lot of planets. The chances of two planets having the same type of atmosphere, land, and distance from their star as Earth is pretty large. Once science finds more information why life begins and what causes it, we will be able to narrow down the planets even farther than we have so far. Maybe then we will find something, and nobody knows what will be out there. It could be pretty cool... Posted 93 days ago | Tagged As: It is possible.
I'm sure that the city of New Orleans would rebound very successfully, but only if Katrina was the only hurricane. If New Orleans takes another huge hit from the newest hurricane, Gustav, and this happens again and again every few years, they will either have to hurry up and rebuild and make stronger buildings, or more and more people will leave for good every hurricane season. Eventually, people will have to make the decision to spend the money or just leave. Posted 93 days ago | Tagged As: Yes, they are on the rebound
Whenever I see someone over 10 years old wearing Crocs, I start to wonder about them... Anybody that can go to the store, buy theses, and wear them in public is a little different. If you wear the Crocs in the privacy of your own home I would classify them as slippers, which are the only other footwear that is completely personal and disgusting to everyone else. But, if you're the only one that sees them, who cares what they look like? A machine gun target or giant bunnies? Posted 93 days ago | Tagged As: My pride is more important
Not only does private gun ownership provide an incentive not to break into a house, but it also provides a largely unseen national defense system. That is the part of private gun ownership that many people do not realize. In the case of an invasion on U.S. soil, not only would there be the military, but civilians in their homes would be able to aid in the defense of the country. If gun owners are properly trained, they can be a huge asset to the nation. Posted 94 days ago | Tagged As: Hell no!
If - for some reason - we as humans found ourselves in a situation where in 10 years we could not use a drop of oil, we would overcome the obstacles. It wouldn't be easy or cheap, but with a population of - I don't know - I'll say about 7 billion people, humans would be able to invent, discover, or improve the energy sources that would be needed. Most people underestimate the power of the world as a collective group because the world's population has never been forced to innovate on this big of a scale. If it is a choice, then it will always lead to a slow, drawn out conversion from one mode of doing things to another. But, if there is no choice but do 'this' or die, then, in eleven years, we would still be around. Posted 94 days ago | Tagged As: Yes, it could.
I think that Sarah Palin is a worthy VP choice for McCain. It has been said that both Democratic and Republican candidates have a lack of experience, but I believe there is something to be said for not having been in Washington for too long. It seems that, eventually, most politicians begin to morph together and lose sight of their original viewpoints after a while. Palin is pro-gun, pro-life, and supports drilling in ANWR, all things I agree with. She also has gotten rid of a lot of corruption in Alaskan government and if I had the chance to vote for her in '06, I would have. Governors have shown to be more successful presidents than senators anyway, and I think that being mayor and governor could be enough experience for someone with enough common sense and an awareness of the world around her. Sarah Palin is a great VP choice for McCain. She supports drilling in ANWR, and has done good things for Alaska so far. Since she has been governor, my general approval rating of her has been positive. As for experience, I would rather have an experienced president with an inexperienced vice president than an inexperienced president with an experienced vice president. Palin opposes wasteful spending and has worked to prevent corruption in Alaskan government. McCain just picked Palin today, Friday, lets see how long it takes for the Trooper fiasco to surface... Anything worth watching teaches you something. If you don't learn anything, anything at all, it's a waste of time and a lot of money. That said, it doesn't have to be educational TV, but as long as you gain something of value-even a point of view on an issue-it's good for me. Posted 95 days ago | Tagged As: Something Educational
