While the world will increase coordination, and the people will get sick of innocent people dying, there will always be fringe elements that will turn to violence for the sake of their cause. In fact, terrorism will increase, for rational violence as in the old days of war and revolution is on the decline. State power is too great, and only terrorism has a chance to inflict damage and change regimes. Too bad.
Although the event certainly is news, and there may be valid arguments for assisted suicide, there is absolutely no value in showing a man's death live on TV. This is one step closer (though still a long way off) to the days of the gladiators. We must respect human dignity, and let death be a private affair.
George Washington University may be known as a political school, but can you imagine the parties that took place after Obama was elected? There is no place better to get into the official candidate parties, at all levels of government. Where else can you enjoy the keg next to a senator?
Saudi Arabia is currently hosting an international conference about inter-faith relations. They have even invited Israel to attend. A few years ago, Saudi Arabia brokered an Arab League deal to recognize Israel in exchange for Palestinian statehood. The country may have its flaws, but they are also active for peace in the world.
