My first language is Spanish. In that language, as you have described for other languages, There is one word for a male cousin and another word for a female cousin. Although I prefer it that way, I am not advocating changing the English language in order to accommodate my preference. But when people advocate moving further away from my preference, then I have to say something.
But aside from my preference, advocating using a new word is more practical because no one would be able to say, "[Insert new word here] is not what God intended. God intended a man and a woman." By neutralizing their argument, (i.e., God intended... the definition is between a man and a woman...) the gay community can move forward and get their benefits.
But no one wants to listen to me so the battle will continue in Maine and California where gays had their asses handed to them (no pun intended ;).
Now, think about this. What some people are saying is that (in a democracy) the minority should be allowed to dictate to the majority what should be done (because "it is the right thing to do, otherwise you are a bigot!" which sounds like hyperbole to me.).
I think that a minority in a democracy should work around the system and offer possible compromises instead of trying to force their views down the throats of people that have overwhelmingly stated that they don't want it. This applies to, not only to gay marriage, but also to health care and to whether or not tax payer money should be used to fund abortions.
I think the message they are trying to get across is that given the fact that:
The Hyde Amendment, implemented in 1977, restricts the use of federal funds for abortion. These public funds can only be used when an abortion is needed to save the life of the mother, or when the pregnancy results from assault rape or incest.
If you cannot afford an abortion, then it is a good idea to refrain from sexual intercourse (other sexual acts are OK). If you don't refrain from sexual intercourse and you end up pregnant, then you better have a back up plan for funding your abortion because Uncle Sam is not responsible for paying for it.
Here's another way to say the same thing.
Government Protected Constitutional Right does not mean that the government has to pay people to exercise their constitutional rights.

That's right, ants are another example. We have red ants and black ants. The red ants are called Solenopsis and the black ants are called Lasius niger. These words are common among scientists that study ants. Your average person doesn't deal much with ants so they don't need to describe them any further than red and black. However, your average person does deal with couples in a relationship and therefore more descriptive words are needed.
Now, the fact that you think that is not a good reason means nothing. Who the hell died and left you as the person responsible for determining what is and isn't a good reason?

Isn't it amazing how MisterGuy does not use logic?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am a big instigator that likes to stir in as much shit as possible. I mean, that's the purpose of this site, to "Get People Fired Up!" And I like to think that I take that job rather seriously by stirring as much shit as possible. And I also like to think that the number of points I have accumulated over the years show that I am the biggest shit stirrer on CD ;)
So your an old fart desk jockey who thinks his smarter than Bill Gates?
Joecavalry-
Thanks for the vote of confidence and feel free to use any of my arguments. I got a good laugh out of some of your comments, very witty. Also please consider me as an ally.
Don't mind at all! I am just glad that you noticed how crazy it is to say taxes should pay for peoples personal preferences.
I posted an argument in your latest "Healthcare debate" that addresses the core issue with healthcare reform.
Yeah i see that now. i start out trying to be diplomatic with my foes but i end up like your last character, beating my arms and head to a bloddy pulp.
There are some really fuck up people in here. When you have a chance read some of my arguments.

Bob McDonnel the the gov of Virgina is going to run in 2012 Obama is done. Lets hope the GOP doesn't do a bonehad move and elect a McCain and Palin ticket again then we could be looking at 4 more years of Obama, which that would be my worst nightmare.
