I believe Obama's speech was meant to be motivational.He was saying be responsible for your own education and dont blame others for your choices.He wants the youth to take the blame for our own actions.Also he was saying to never give up; just because you came from nothing does'nt mean you will be nothing.He wants us to know that we can over come what ever we set our minds to.
