"I would rather believe in God die and find out there isn't one than not believe in God die and find out there is."
This sounds like pascal's wager.
What happens if you believe in God, die, and then find out you believed in the wrong god?
Christianity is a monotheistic religion, thus belief in other gods is prohibited. There are many different religions and many different gods. What if one of the other gods turns out to be true one?
Believing in the Christian God "just in-case he exists" is far from a safe position.
