Neither of these options give us the ability to disagree with the matter at hand. "True, true" and "you're paranoid," both, whether or not we believe that the end is near, have narrowed the question down to:
1) yes the end is near or
2) disregarding the validity of "the end," we are going to focus on a person's feelings/mood/worries about "the end."
This is not a vague debate; it is a somewhat specific debate disguised to be vague. For if we were trying to find what the end means to individuals, this would have to be a debate on ambiguity, not vagueness.
