Poetry is the use of words to describe a situation with a twist, it must be beautiful in some way if it is good. Poetry can be non-emotive.
Have you read the lovely bones? I'll send my first IOP practice (Psychoanalysis of George Harvey, how does Alice Sebold convey her message about him?) on it if you want, but I think that the author was trying to show us that we should forgive even the most heinous crimes, and understand that there are reasons, such as psychosis. My study found evidence of 'programming' of the fictitious serial rapist/murderer and allusions to mental disorder. The book was thoroughly researched and the author is a rape survivor.
btw, I got a 6 for it, so it's not terrible.
