What do you suggest that people do with animals that they no lobnger want to/have the ability to care for?

http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/nonnatives/reptiles/burmese-python/

This website shows how the Burmese Python, a common exotic pet, has become an invasive species in Florida. The species was introduced when exotic pet owners relased them into the Everglades. I would be fine if people could care for their pets, but not if they will be relased into habitats that they do not belong in.

No, I do not believe that people should be able to keep exotic aniamls as pets. Even if these animals are "cute and cuddly," they are still wild animals. Owners often release their pets after a few months. According to https://steemit.com/nature/@herpetologyguy/why-you-don-t-want-an-alligator-for-a-pet-advice-from-an-alligator-trainer, alligators can grow up to 15 feet. These animals soon become expensive to feed and maintain. They are then released back "into the wild." This can be a problem for neighborhoods with small children. Furthermore, animals such as the Burmese Python are relased into areas such as Florida. http://myfwc.com/wildlifehabitats/nonnatives/reptiles/burmese-python/ says that these snakes have become an invasive species destorying the natural balance in the Everglades. This is why people should not be allowed to keep exotic aniamls as pets.

I personally believe that animals should be used as test subjects for human medicines and antibiotics. According to the National Academies Press, https://www.nap.edu/read/10089/chapter/3, there are several reasons why animals should be used for testing.

-"Animals offer experimental models that would be impossible to replicate using human subjects."

-"Many diseases that affect human beings also affect other mammals, but they do not occur in insects, plants, or bacteria."

These are just a few points that help to support my point. Animals make ideal test subjects because medical researchers can use them to test new and potential medicines for human use. Human lives are more important than animals lives. Animals are used to ensure that medicines are safe for humans.
