To me it is not really clear what you mean with the term spiritual leadership? Does this mean that corporative leadership and spiritual leadership share the same meaning? If I think of corporate leadership it is more directed at ultimate success and managing effectively. I'm happy to discuss some more but I'm not totally sure about what spiritual leadership means.

The amount of 1 year is probably too harsh, since indeed they have most probably no cultural background of our country and Dutch is one of the hardest languages to learn. Still I think that some people make use of the aminities our country is providing them. Some people live here for over 10 years and still don't speak the language. I think you should track their progress closely and look at their willingness to integrate. If they do their best, more than welcome to stay and hopefully integrate into society and business. If they refuse to do anything at all, then for me there is no reason to let them make use of our facilities.

It is a sensitive subject since I think every immigrant has a different story.

Digital communication doesn't give the same personal connection as face-to-face conversations. Nothing better than being surrounded by friends in real life and just being able to talk to them. Digital communication can never replace this feeling. Even Skype is not the same, although you can see each other on camera. I think this personal need will never change.

However, digital communication does come in handy with international contacts and friends. If you have traveled before or spent your minor abroad, it is a great way to stay in contact with people you are not able to see face-to-face whenever you want to. The feeling might not be the same, but it does feel great to be able to stay connected with them.

I am a bit confused about the terms 'reliable' and 'honest'. To me they sort of mean the same, what is the difference in these terms to you?

So you do not mind that a lot of news will be brought to you by amateurs instead of professionals? Can I assume because of your answer, you find amateuristic news more reliable?

Thanks for sharing this example JanH_, I did not hear of this before. So you're saying that collaborations of amateurism and professionalism are likely to continue in the future?

Good example about Ukraine Xeniya. What I'm wondering is: do you think that professional journalism is always unprejudiced then?

I think it is not 100% professional, but depending on which social media platform you use for it. For example, I think that LinkedIn is much more professional and appropriate for it than Facebook or other friend-related platforms. Although it is very normal nowadays for employers to check their job candidates on social media before even inviting them for an interview. So I guess there is no way around it anymore. Personally, I would prefer only to use LinkedIn as social media tool for applying, next to e-mailing and sending letters.

If you only look at the fact if the smartphone is making us smarter, I think the answer is yes. If I look at myself, I look up information all the time on my phone when I'm traveling with OV and don't have so much else to do. When checking social media, I see a lot of interesting links and blogs that contribute to my general knowledge, for example about technology etc. Reading the news is also something that you do with your smartphone and that enhances your knowledge about current societies.

If you look at the more social point of view, I don't think the smartphone is making us smarter, more dumb and ignorant I would say. Time has dissapeared where a group of people could sit together and talk without anyone looking at his phone for at least 30 minutes.

If we support food production by small holders (especially in very poor countries), we keep their labor activities alive so that a lot of people maintain their jobs or new ones can be created. This is good for their economies and the development of their countries.

Most of the time, I think that food produced by small holders will be more fair and therefore people might feel better consuming this. I have the feeling that multinational companies take advantage of cheap labor costs etc.
