Why do Christians believe 'the End is Near' When Bible clearly says otherwise
82, 88, 94, 99, 00, 11, 12, 13, 15These are years in which well-known Christian leaders have predicted the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. And the are just the well known predictions from within my lifetime. Prior to that there were dozens of others, going all the way back to just after the birth of Christianity. No matter how much faith these leaders had, no matter how much they studied their Bible, they were all wrong. But if they had REALLY studied their Bible, anyone past the first century would have known not to hold their breath. “I tell you this: the present generation will live to see it all.” Mark 13:30, Jesus speaking to his followers“before you have gone through all the towns of Israel the Son of Man will have come.” Matthew 10:23, Jesus after directing his disciples to preach the Gospel in Israel “I tell you this: there are some of those standing here who will not
taste death before they have seen the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” Matthew 16:28, Jesus, again to his disciples “You will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of God and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64, Jesus to high priest Caiaphas. So yeah, unless he thought some of his followers and acquaintances would live to be over 2000 years old, he was clearly expecting to come back before some of the books of the New Testament were written. But, to those of you praying for a rapture, don't worry, its not the end of the world :)
