Scientists 'robocop'd a beetle recently. Is this ethical? http://m.livescience.com/54233-scientists-turn-beetles-into-cyborg-insects.html?cmpid=514627_20160330_59947366&adbid=10153352236121761&adbpl=fb&adbpr=30478646760

Canada got a political facelift recently. The Liberal Party smashed the polls and ousted many conservative seats across the board. A combination of "anybody but Harper" and the want for more responsible policies concerning the environment likely pulled many young liberal voters to the polls attaining Canada's second highest voter turn out. Canada's new Prime Minister Trudeau may have it pretty easy for the next few years.Trudeau has some sweeping changes planned that puts Canada in a different direction than before. The liberal party certainly won enough seats to make good plenty of campaign goals for sure. The platform the Liberal party ran on sounds familiar; cut income taxes on middle class and raise taxes on the wealthy, address environmental concerns about the Keystone pipeline, stopping bombing raids against the Islamic State, legalizing marijuana etc. Will this effect US politics this election cycle? http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-numbers-1.3281210http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-34578213

I am leaving this open for interpretation. "Can there be morals without a god" or "Can those who don't beleive in god be moral" are acceptable interpretations for instance.
Just as the title said, the Dalai Lama voices support for mariage equality. No suprise really. So does this make him a better spiritual leader than the pope?
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hres467/textI see some of the language of the proposed bill is likely to not pass muster in the current conditions of the US. Just thought I would throw this out here though, why not have a holiday celebrating scientific advancement!
Just seeing if this will generate any discussion. I will do a quick overview and add some links below.A local bar has named a drink "Date Grape" which as stirred up some controversy. After being contacted by people who disagreed claiming the drinks name and the bars attitude adds to the "trivialization of date rape" among other things, the bar responded in a condescending manner which fueled the controversy. You can look at the bars facebook page for examples of the ongoing debate.I see the name has been used before and had similar controversy so I will add that to the links as well. It is likely the bar knew what they were doing, I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity.http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/feb/01/date-grape-koolaid-at-new-spokane-bar-sparks/http://jezebel.com/tip-definitely-do-not-name-a-drink-at-your-bar-date-g-1513496610http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/kellys-pub-rape-is-nothttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1NbV9AriFI (Mad Tv skit, not related to the bar but the name of the drink)Your thoughts on this?
Currently all requests for displays at the state capitol are being put on hold until the law suit over the ten comandments is settled. But wait this debate isn't about whether the ten commandments should/should not be put up at the state captiol...In responce to the ten commandments being put up in such a manner a group of Satanists has put a bid in to have their deity put on display in statue form. If the courts allow for the ten commandments to stay should other religious groups have the same rights to put up their statues? Why or why not?link to a simple write up. http://news.yahoo.com/satanists-unveil-design-okla-capitol-monument-212735130.htmlA little better write up, other groups have also put in bids for their statues. http://abcnews.go.com/Weird/wireStory/satanists-unveil-design-okla-capitol-monument-21440030
Which is worse of the current US political situation; That the politicians feel they have to pander to extremist sections of voters to be elected or that the politicians believe some of the crazy stuff they say?
