Matthew 10:34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."This is one of the lesser known verses from good ol' Jesus himself. Now Jesus said a lot of great things to live your life by but this seems to contradict the notion that Jesus came to bring peace and love. Now of course there are plenty of quotes to the contrary but the fact that it is still in there still deserves examination, what do you think of it?
Honest question because from what I have seen most girls go for guys who are shallow, selfish, and stupid. Maybe I just have had bad luck in life but I really wonder, what do girls want in a guy?
I recently came accross an article (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/dailybrew/canada-spends-far-less-u-health-care-live-20110415-130908-065.html) which had some intereseting up to date facts in it along with where those facts came from. The US spends around 10 000$ per person annually on health care while Canada spends around 4000$ per person annually, however the spending doesn't translate to results as the US is 27th on the global life expectancies of nations while Canada is 10th. I posted a debate similar to this a while back but I feel like reintroducing it after reading the article. *Note, the stats listed in the description are not from the same year as the image.
I think we could all learn a little from whatever Japan is doing.
I'm obviously kidding with this debate but I thought it would be all in good fun to troll Hellno2012 with that question since he very frequently expresses his opinion on what can only be described as the greatest president who ever lived (more trollin')

Atheism is - disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings. Contrary to what many religious folk might believe it is not the positive assertion that god does not exist.
My argument is that there have been hundreds of gods through out human history, many of which have sacred texts which each assert that their God is real, true and exists. Most people, most sane ones at least, don't adhere to multiple religions and only follow one and believe in that religion's holy book. The qur'an, the bible, the book of mormon, the upanishads, the vedas, the Guru Granth Sahib... what do these books have in common? All of them assert the claim that their God is true.
I make the claim that every religious person is an atheist, because they lack belief in all but one of the many Gods religions espouse the existence of.
Is this claim true of false?
Given that a God has the characteristic trait of being all powerful and all loving, is the fact that evil exists incongruent with the assertion that such a deity exists?
I was reading reviews of the book "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" and I was wondering which style or parenting is better, or is there some blend of the two. Should you push your child to the maximum and decide their lives for them, let them grow and learn on their own, or some middle ground?
My dealings with this person, and I can imagine many other's, have lead me to the conclusion that he is impervious to logic, reasoning and thinking. What do you think of him?
Serious question and I was wondering how convincing could Jesus really have been? In a time were people were believing in all sorts of crazy gods, myths and stories, a time when people were very easily persuaded, facts were not needed, and it didnt take much for an idea to be accepted, why did Jesus have so few followers? He had 12 apostles, 12, there were more members of the Heaven's Gate Cult, those people who commited mass suicide to board a ufo that was following a comet so they could go to another existence. If Jesus was the son of God, and had to power to perform miracles, why did he have less follows than there were members of the heavan's gate cult? Obviously the follows have grown but while Jesus was alive, why did he have so few followers?
If you are a christian and you do something good, are you doing it because goodness is its own reward? or because if you help feed that homeless man on the street you have a better shot at getting into heaven. Is a reward based system of belief and action selfish in terms of good deeds a good idea from a moral standpoint? Are good deeds being done for the right reasons? I think these are valid questions and would like to see how others answer them. Arguments and reasoning below.
I have always found it odd that people don't see an inherant contradiction in these two concepts, maybe it's just me. If there is a God and that God has a divine plan which dictatess everything that happens in the universe (the ol' everything happens for a reason statement) what is the point of making a divine plan if any person could come along and screw it up it by praying for a change in the world. Even if you pray for something to happen, like praying for some schmuck's dad to recover from cancer, how will someone's whining and complaining about the cruel twist in God's plan make God change his mind. If there i a God and he has a plan, prayer wouldn't be capable of changing anything.
So what do you think on the matter, is the concept of a perfect divine plan compatible with prayer?
If you could audit one person, business, or organization who would it be?
If you could see the expenses and costs, revenues, where the money goes and who it comes from for any person, business or organization who or what would it be and why?
Should it be allowed? For those if you who aren't aware of it, it is not adopting a gay baby, but it is when when a same sex couple would like to adopt and raise a child. What's your postion on this?
