Today, Fresno State responded to the outcry to take action again professor Jarra due to her irreverent comments about the former first lady Barbara Bush. While their statement below states she made the comments as a private citizen, she implicated Fresno State by saying that she will never be fired. She is hiding behind free speech. While free speech rights allow you to say what you want in many cases, There is no constitutional right to free speech in the workplace. Is this possibly a racially or religiously motivated hate crime?I think they need to take action to get rid of her...what do you think? Here is their statement...Statement by @Fresno_State President @JosephICastro regarding tweets made today by a faculty member:
Hey everyone, things have gotten quite out of hand here lately. I receive lots of criticism for doing nothing, then lots of criticism for doing something. So I am faced with the reality of either shutting the site down, or cleaning it up. Shutting it down is easy, I can turn the site off in a matter of minutes and that is that. By doing that, it will also put between $300 and $500 back in my pocket a month, because that is what I spend to keep the site running. The hard thing is to clean it up. I want to keep it open, so I am going to try to clean it up.Here is the first round of changes to help us have a site that everyone can coexist in.THE RULES1. All debates must be written in the form of a question. If you do not, I will take the liberty to change those which I see are statements into questions.2. No swearing! PERIOD! I used to allow the occasional profanity to be used to emphasize a particular point. No longer. Profanity will not be tolerated. Use it once and you will be warned. Use it twice and you will be banned.3. No attacks on members. You may post debates and arguments that attack public figures, but you may not post a debate or argument attacking another member. Do it once and you will be warned. Do it twice and you will be banned.4. No sock puppet accounts period. I will have an amnesty period until April 1st. Turn in your sock puppet accounts to be banned (the content will stay). If not, I will start surgically removing accounts starting with your most active to the least active as a punishment.5. No Advertising! If you create a debate which is clearly created with the sole purpose of creating a to backlink to another site, you will be banned immediately. There may be more, but let's start with these!Best regards,Andy
The use of the "N" work has been coming under scrutiny on the site lately. Google is threatening to remove their advertising and educators have been abandoning their use of the site because of profanity and the gratuitous use of the "N" when it could be used more discretely.Recently, I have reached out to several members and asked them to limit their use by either masking the middle characters or not using the word as all, and have included the reasons why. Several members have been supportive, but one just decided to leave because I wasn't supporting their first amendment rights.Well, do you the membership of CreateDebate feel it is acceptable to ask members to mask or eliminate certain words, or do you think it is wrong to do so.I would like to see what the popular opinion is!
One of our more brazen members has taken it upon himself to exploit a feature to unilaterally delete other members posts. This is wrong and frankly illegal as he was warned not to continue doing this when he stumbled upon the feature about a year ago. The exploit had to do with debate communities and as such we have had to turn off some functionality in those communities to close the feature that Prodigee was exploiting for his nefarius purposes. So to my question...If you know who Prodigee is, would you turn him in?The reason I ask is that I have lawyered up to go after him. I have some information, even pictures I suspect are him that he posted on this site and others. I have filed an FBI report, but since the FBI doesn't touch the small stuff, my lawyer is going to file a lawsuit on my behalf today, naming the defendant John Doe AKA "prodigee" , AKA "instig8tor" (amongst others). If you have any information that would help me lead the authorities to him, it would be greatly appreciated. Here are two possible picture of the offender. Please contact me through messaging if you know who he is so I can pass this along to the authorities.

A new sport has become so popular in Rio that it is up for special consideration to be added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics...Mugging.Muggin fits the new sport Olympic sport criteria perfectly: CriteriaThe Tokyo 2020 committee listed the following criteria for new sports: added value; youth appeal; attractiveness for TV, media and the general public; gender equality; minimum impact on the number of events and/or quotas, infrastructure and operational costs and complexity.Added value...someone's making a buck!Youth appeal...Youth are doing it everywhere!Attractiveness for TV, media and the general public...Every Rio Mugging is making headlines and everyone is watching the news because of the muggings.Gender equality: Yes, both men and women are equally targeted!Minimum impact on the number of events and or quotas...this is a "pop up sport" No new events need to be created, nor quotas met.Infrastructure and operational costs: All operational costs are the responsibility of the mugger!Complexity: Zero - yes, there is virtually no complexity to the system. How do you feel?!?
I have decided to pilot adding polls to debates by first (and maybe always) using Twitter Polls. You can easily create a tweet with a poll. Assuming you have a twitter account, you create a tweet with a poll, click on the three ... at the bottom of the tweet, c,ick embed tweet, copy the HTML code and paste it into your debate. You may need to edit your debate a second time for the HTML to embed properly. You simply click on the debate title while the debate is open, and click the "Create Debate" box at the bottom of the screen. Please let me know if you like polls in debates...let's use a twitter poll to find out!Do you like the idea of adding Polls to Debates in CreateDebate?— CreateDebate (@CreateDebate) August 13, 2016

TOPIC #1 PLAGIARISMThere are some on the site who feel compelled to point farm. My definition of point farming is anyone who through legitimate or illegitimate means acquires point for the purpose of accumulating points. I believe there are two categories:Category 1: The grinder - These are people who grind our debate after debate and argument after argument to quickly but painfully build up points.Category 2: The spammer - These people will do absolutely anything to create point farms, they create spam debates, spam arguments, automate debate creation, open communities and create spam debates within them, create multiple accounts to add arguments to their debates, and just about anything else they can think of to create points.I am not saying one category is better than the other because both seem to upset the membership. So here is the question...Should members be allowed to point farm? If your answer is yes, please state the circumstances where you believe it should be allowed (e.g. Category 1 is acceptable because they are not doing anything wrong). The next topic up is....
