If you had the chance to put up a single tax or introduce one new tax, what would it be on and why? [TAG YOUR ANSWER]

Each year my college holds a competition in which students studying Governments and Politics can write an essay about any topic as long as it is to do with British or American politics. The essay has to be between 2000 and 3000 words and the deadline is a month so I was hoping to have my first draft complete in 2 weeks. The problem is I can't think of what to do it on. FYI in England college is ages 16-18 and I'm second year which I believe to be equivilant of a Senior in high school in America. If I win it would be a excellent thing to put onto my University personal statement and a good thing to talk about in the interviews to help me get into the Uni I want to.

I'm talking about the type of  cartoons on the Disney Channel and Nick Toons. Excluding cartoons such as Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland Show

Meditation is the act of remaining in a silent and calm state for a period of time, as part of a religious training, or so that you are more able to deal with the problems of everyday life. I realise that meditation comes in many forms but I am talking about in general. Mainly thinking about the methods in which someone will sit silently or sit humming for lengthy periods of time. ♥

I think schools nowadays are all about exam results. I appreciate this is what will help you stand out when applying for college or a job in later life, but do schools teach us skills we use in real life?Trigonometry? Algebra? WWII? Volcanoes? Cloud formation? Frog disections?Has anyone actually ever used these in the outside world? I think schools need to find the right mix of academic knowledge and real world knowledge. Any ideas of what real world skills they could teach?
