I'm thinking of taking it to accompany friends, but I'm curious; has anyone taken it on this site? The info we get at school is pretty much zero, and you only hear stories and opinions indirectly. Is it even all that accurate? (The 'math' section is rather lacking, so I'm guessing no.) What scores would you aim for for college? etc. AND YES, I know there are millions of forums out there on this topic, and believe me, I have had a look. No site's members can match the lucidity of CD's though ( ;) ), so that's why I'm here.
There are an awful lots of books in which you can 'interpret' the meaning of a dream you've had. Symbols, omens, unconscious personalities are all said to be found in them - some with more dubious reasoning than others. I have yet to find any scientific research on dreaming beyond electric signals and the stages of sleep. What do you guys think?
In the wake of Kim jong Il's death, there has been some speculation on the future of North Korea, including rumors that Un will be wanting to cement his power by focussing on the war with South Korea. Il's brother-in-law will likely take de facto leadership for now, mentoring Un.
Considering estimates of the number of nuclear weapons North Korea owns (anywhere up to a dozen), is this cause for concern?
In vitro meat - lab grown cultures that are replicas of meat, but have never been part of an animal.
These may be no more than 6 months away, according to scientists working in a university in the Netherlands. It would not only save slaughter of farm animals, but reduce livestock emissions, land needed for farming, and would be more energy-efficient.
Though starting at quarter of a million pounds per burger...
Other contenders for the Ellis Cup include Wales, France and Australia.
Facts you might want to consider:
The All Black has had 2 sucessive groin injuries on the same number (7) - our best kicker, the fly half, and then second best kicker. The guy who stands in for them plays well but his grandfather died on the night of the quarterfinal.
The French have lost their fly half too, and so have Wales.
Australia... lost to Ireland. The words 'embarrassing' and 'disaster' were frequently passed around.
I realise I may be asking the wrong audience however. But that would be stereotyping.
Just shrugged it off with a comment on their Tumblr addiction. BUT STILL, why is it that engaging in intellectual pursuits is supposed to be a shameful thing?
It's sad that incompetence and disinterest in learning is celebrated now.
If you wouldn't, what about one that guaranteed that by minimalising overheads, they can get a substantially bigger percentage of your money to actually aiding the cause? Compared to other non-profit charities.
The first thing my parents said to me when they heard a school was making them compulsory subject items:
"When is your school going to follow?"
Needless to say, they are Apple Addicts. (Which I am totally ashamed of, honestly. Could they be more shallow?)
Oops. Getting sidetracked.
So, is it a good idea?
You have two grannies, Gran and slightly hippie Louise (she wants you to call her by her first name because she thinks people are people regardless of relation and you should treat everyone the same.) They both, being extremely amazing grandmothers, bake you and your friends some baking every week when they come around. Both's cooking is splendid, no doubt.
However, it comes to your attention (from overhearing your grandfathers' good-natured ribbing of each other's wives) that Gran is simply a good person, an Angel through and through, not a bad bone in her body. Louise however, was never so sweet, considered selfish and arrogant as a young woman. But over time, she's realised the benefits, to everyone, that being a good, kind person brings and despite it at first being extremely difficult, is now as sweet and grandmotherly as any, including Gran.
This makes you think a little harder at the cookies and chocolate slice. All else being the same, who is the 'better person'? Is it fair to Gran that Louise should be 'better' just because she's trying harder, or to Louise that Gran is 'better' because being good just comes naturally, something that can't be changed?
Actively promote, that is. Not any 'oh yes, you might like to consider it but it's all g with us' but more, 'we'll promote it to your kids and your parents and your dog and you don't have choice about it.'
Actually true. One from a heart infection, one from alcohol OD, one from traffic, one from alcohol -and- traffic.
Now everyone is going on about how all adolescents are disgusting binge drinkers and we should raise the legal age to 20, but I'm pretty sure it's also due to the particular school environment.
Any thoughts?
I totally used to think that it was all just 'Love Jesus' subliminal messaging, but I listened to a little (Skillet) and it was surprisingly decent. Though, my taste in music is pretty questionable.
So, next year is my last at high school, and we're supposed to start applying for leadership positions. My friends all say to try out for Head Girl (for those of you from out of new zealand, I suppose that would equate to Head Prefect?) and even the teachers think so. Also, I've never been the rebellious kind but I'm not exactly Miss Perfect Record either... My parents are all for it, but I'm more concerned about my marks tbh. Silly dilemma, right? But it's really bugging me and I would really appreciate some impartial advice!!
Should we always be finding a grain of truth? When we read and are told things, sometime by people we trust and love, should we give them the benefit of the doubt? Even in our own beliefs, is it necessary to not take them for the absolute truth?
Just as companies know that telephone surveys turn up results that won't be representative of the whole demographic, do the type of people most likely to take part on this site create prejudice or partiality that alters the outcome of these debates?
