You came back after a year just to tell us that? You must have a lot of time on your hands.

1 point

Of course. Did this surprise you?

Stephen Colbert is not a "news" show but a comedy. That's why it is on Comedy Central.

However, the media likes to treat him as a "news" channel and draws from his show and place it into theirs. I've seen it.

Yes, the world must be coming of it's axis.

Even though my gut wants a general knowledge test requirement, it's against the principals of the United States to require such a thing. I believe a general knowledge test about the candidate(s) would "enlightened" people a bit.

Funny story. This one guy was taking a video of him in the voting booth. You could tell he was a millennial and pretty liberal. Anyways, he picks Hillary Clinton and then goes, "oh... Well, her name sounds pretty" and proceeds to vote for someone that he doesn't know.

As Winston Churchill said, "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter".

Status Quo.

First of all, Russia, China, US, Pakistan, India, etc will not give up their nuclear armory completely, period.

Secondly, nuclear weapons have stopped more wars than start them. The obvious downside of this is that if two of these nations go to war, they can be faced with the possibility of a nuclear war.

In a perfect world, nuclear weapons would be outlawed. But then so would war and we wouldn't need them in the first place.

What goes up, must come down. That saying goes for the Dow too. People will soon start to sell off their stocks and it will decrease. It's just what happens.

It is the women in India decision to either move forward or stay back.

What a lot of people don't understand is some women are completely okay with this. Some women like not being responsible for multiple things like men.

The women in the US (if that's what your referring to) and most of the Western World are equal rights as men. Therefore, they don't need empowerment.

They have it.

1 point

"stay woke."

I didn't know what this word meant until I watched Dear White People.

Who in Sam's hell would say this? Not only is crude English, it also makes you sound like a toddler especially since she is a member of Congress.

She has been in way too long. Time to introduce term limits.

This is why we must keep English class mandatory throughout high school. My English isn't perfect, but I can place words together to make a sentence.

I don't know much about the Fermi Paradox and therefore I really can't debate it sadly.

However, I will add something. As said above, we are just now discovering other exoplanets. Planets in which we can't see, even with our technology. On top of that, they are light years away. In the end we really don't know.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Islam is, "good". But not all Muslims want a bloodbath. In fact, the majority of them would probably like to be left alone.

Despite our differences all around, we are going have to warm up to them some time. Vice versa. Otherwise we will just keep going around in this circle. The first place to start is to eradicate radical Islamic terror. And we will need them to help us on that.

That's my two cents.

1 point

Not surprising. Everyday, I actually start to believe regressives have a metal disorder.

Yes, BLM, also who credits a terrorist for their founding, is delusional. At almost every major BLM protest, it has been followed by violence against police and regular citizens. BLM doesn't know what law and order is due to the fact they have never shown it.

I believe the owner should have free reign over their business within reason. I also think a business owner has the right to choose who he or she wishes to serve. That is my personal belief but I also believe government does play a role in all of it. A minor role, but a role never the less.

We all know the modern day brown skirts feminazis.

1 point

The term, democracy, means that the people vote for a person to govern them. A Republic is a system in which people are governed.

Our system works (or suppose to) like this.

We elect representatives from our district to represent us, The People. The Senate acts the same way, but over a state instead of a district. This was suppose to help keep the balance of state and federal laws. It gives everyone a voice, even the people living in hick town.

So the US is a democracy cause the people vote for people to govern them. Though, the system we use is a republican system.

That's why they sometimes say the US is a, "Democratic Republic".

Yes. If we didn't dropped the atomic bomb(s) on Japan, then we would have had to invade Japan by land, sea, and air in which would cost the lives of hundreds of thousands, if not million(s).

Well, depends what you mean and in what context.

I think it is somewhat the other way around now. Personally, when someone tells me they are a Christian, I try to look for faults to see if they might take advantage of me later on. I become cynical of them. The only reason why is because the vast majority of Christians I ran into are no different from you or me. There are very few and far between of those Christians that live a Christian life style.

I think today its more neutral than anything. Back in the day, however, if you were not a Christian, you were probably one of the few.

Stalin killed 10 million of his own people. Let's not forget that the Soviets suffered a famine back in 1932 that killed even more. Even Russians consider Stalin an evil man. This guy made Hitler look like child's play. He also decimated the majority of Russian leadership across the board, including the military which bore a heavy cost in WW2.

1 point

He done the crime, I think he should do the time. If I'm not mistaken, two soldiers, who had their whole life ahead of them, died searching for him. They lost their lives forever.

And they have the guts to say he lost 12 years of his life?

They're nuts.

I know they are lawyers and it's their job to get him off the hook, but common sense really says otherwise. This guy walked off his post ON PURPOSE.

When we criticize the left, we don't really mean literally that we believe you love Muslims. What we are trying to get at is the left seems to be willing to bring them from countries with a history of radical Islamic terrorism (Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, etc.) and consider them, "refugees".

The truth of the matter is this.

1. 75 percent of the refugees in Europe are young men.

2. Over half come from Syria, a country that's in a war with multiple parties. Including ISIS.

3. Since Sweden issued an open door policy, the crime rate has increased over 300 percent and 1 in 4 women in Sweden will be raped by what the statistics show.

4. And now there are cities in Europe with an "off limits" area that are filled with Muslims who refuse to acclimate to their new countries' culture.

5. Terrorist attacks have happened across Europe for that past decade, the majority which were caused by radical Islamic terrorist.

6. Over 500 people have been killed since 2004 from radical Islamic terrorism

....and I could go on and on.

That's why I asked in what context . You're either born male or female and you can't change the fact even after you go through the whole process. One has XX and the other has XY chromosomes. Are you asking if they are male or female or are you asking what people would like to consider themselves. If it is that latter, then yes, I guess it is a social construct.

"What if we changed the age to do those things to 21? Then would you want the voting age to be 21?"

Yes. If you pay taxes and can serve in the military at the minimum age of 21 then the voting age should be at 21.

"Why should the voting age be the same as working and serving in the military anyways? You can't buy alcohol if your under 21 or buy weed (where it is legal)."

That's not the point. The point is and has been since Vietnam is that if a President can send you to war, then you should be able to vote for that President.

"I guarantee if the voting age already was 21 and for a long time, you would be saying 21 as the best voting age, which isn't the basis for the question here."

You can guarantee all you like. I always believe that if you pay taxes and can be drafted (if it ever happens again), then you should be able to vote.

1 point

Apparently you don't know the TRUE definition of liberal or what a classical liberal is.

"repealed the 2nd amendment"

A true liberal would abide by the US Constitution to the letter. A true liberal would not have repealed anything. Besides, Obama couldn't have repealed the 2nd Amendment if he wanted to. There is a reason why we say, "and to the Republic".

No, Obama was a Progressive. You could debate if he was a socialist or not.

1 point

It should stay the same. At 18 you can get drafted, work full time, serve in the military, pay taxes, etc.

Of course those egg heads in the socialist party (communist or whatever they call themselves) wants the voting age lowered. They don't work OR pay taxes!

1 point

They had a chance to vote. If they did, good for them. If they didn't, too bad so sad. Our system is in place for a reason. He won the election fair and square. Go to school or work and shut up about it.

You're just hurting your cause anyway.

1 point

If the employer is ok with hiring someone with "body modification" and letting this display it than so be it. If an employer doesn't want anyone bearing tatts or piercings than they can refuse them and find someone who doesn't have them.

...and just saying... More than likely, future engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc know this and will either make it to where they can hide their tattoo or not have them in the first place.

1 point

I would love to see a vet do his/her job while running on a tread mill. Where do I sign up to watch this kind of display?

I think extreme vetting is good for people who plan to become citizens of this country and/or people coming from abroad. Especially from areas with known insurgencies.

"unless that breaks the law."

It doesn't. A owner of a business can turn down whom he or she wishes to serve.

"by your logic, shouldn't they fire you for that"

They very well could have. If I refuse to do a part of my job based on a phobia, then they have a legal right to fire me for it. If you talk to some construction workers, you'll find out that many of them still get an adrenaline rush on ladders. But yet they do their job because they can control their fear.

"not the customers problem"

Grant it, it isn't. Not unless he wants a cake baked by a religious baker. Then it becomes a problem.

"his religion is not an excuse to break the law .suck it up and obey the law .i know of some people whose religion permitted them to fly planes into the world trade center .not an excuse !"

He isn't breaking the law. He is refusing to bake a cake for a homosexual couple based on religious beliefs in which he religion can condemn him. Besides, those people that you speak of, their religion doesn't permit them to fly anything into a tower full of innocent people, they themselves chose that.

I think you need to spend some time researching.

The corporate tax needed adjustment no matter how you looked at it, he has the ball rolling on adjusting Obamacare (which republicans could have done along time ago), and he is actually communicating to us like a common person would.

I just have a good feeling.

1 point

I said it before and I'll say it again. I could care less what political allegiance of any buffoon who creates a petition to secede from the US. Whether it be Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, etc. It would be a major mistake for any state to leave the US because a president has been elected for a term. All of these states pre-dates us and has contributed to the nation through blood, sweat, and tears. All 50 states belong in the Union.

Putting up a petition just shows that people are ready to give up out of the gate instead of trying to settle their matters democratically.

Christianity is not a race. Therefore, anyone who ridicules it can not be a bigot. Secondly, I personally do not ridicule any religion, but I do ridicule and show how crazy some of it's followers are. There are egg heads in every religion, but Christianity takes the cake in a special kind of way.
