Although Mexico's economy isn't as strong as we hoped it would be right now, NAFTA did help its economy grow. An example is Mexico selling oil to the US. This helped grow their economy while allowing the US to rely less on Middle Eastern oil.
Mexico allowed the US to get oil much cheaper from them, so the US does not have to rely on the Middle East's oil nearly as much. This also strengthed Mexico's econemy in the process.
