The poster you put up pretty much summarizes my views. If prayer helps people get through the hard work however, then more power to them- but in the end, hard work is the tried and true way to be the most effective in anything you do, unless those matters are of a metaphysical sort.
Yep. Keeping them close allows you to monitor their actions, react swiftly, and forces you to show the best side of yourself, which aids immensely in converting hearts and minds.
However, there is always the possibility that they might attack, but the chances of that are lowered if you are constantly spying on them, and trying to assimilate them into your culture.
Agreed.
Here is a blog post addressing the same things.
I understand why people may want to know what his prayer was, but the right to privacy trumps those desires. Though I don't believe in prayer, I believe that it is one of those things that is ultimately up to the person himself to divulge or not.
Way too divisive. He advocates expelling Muslims from Europe... then how will you ever understand their culture? How will you find ways to counteract these radical strains of Islam?
IMO, the rise of radical Islam is all about winning hearts and minds to their cause. Hatred like this makes it easier for extremist groups to attract more converts, as moderate Muslims may feel that the other side does really hate them.
According to Sperm Wars by Robin Baker, female orgasms are used to either help or hurt the passage of sperm up the cervix. If the woman orgasms 1-2 minutes before the man does, all of the mucus in her cervix will have been expelled, making it easier for the sperm to swim up said cervix. Any longer, and the cervix will be swamped with new mucus, making it harder for sperm to go up.
To summarize: it allows women's bodies to decide whether or not to become pregnant.
I am more of an RTS fan, though I have been doing more Turn-Based strategy games as of late. I like planning out my strategies, coping with what the enemy has and my resources.
Also, I'm pretty sure that Starcraft is the only game that has been continuously played for a decade. That shows the immense appeal of the RTS genre.
After some searching of the Oil Drum, I find out that while they don't directly address the impact oil has on agriculture and manufacturing, they do have a daily post called "Drumbeat" where they post a lot of stuff related to the oil crisis, which does include agriculture and manufacturing.
The link below focuses more on food supply, but if you already know that oil creates fertilizer, it is simple enough to connect the dots (as the moderators at the Oil Drum know, otherwise they wouldn't have put it in the drumbeat).
I want to write a counterargument, but first I need to know what type of game you are talking about.
If it's a FPS, then the mouse has the benefit of sensitivity, since it takes less to orient yourself than a controller. However, the analog sticks have the benefit of knowing how fast you are moving, since you can only move the sticks so far. I'll acknowledge that this can be resolved by tweaking your sensitivity options.
Secondly, I don't understand this:"Wait for your character to rotate in that direction", for two reasons. First, this happens with both analog sticks and keyboards. Second, that is why you don't just have a mouse or one analog stick: the keyboard/other analog stick is used to move, which can also be used to change your camera angle faster/compensate for the direction change by moving. Anyone who has played an FPS knows that you can't stay still; that leaves you open to attack (unless you are a sniper...)
Ultimately, the choice between analog sticks and mouse + keyboard comes down to playing style. A mouse provides speed, but at higher sensitivities, you lose accuracy. An analog stick also suffers from this problem, but it has the advantage of knowing how much movement of the stick would affect the movement of the camera (since that speed is constant).
I agree. If you are a skeptic like me, you try to get all the points of view first, then distill them to their core arguments. You work out what you think is right, which may entail changing your opinion.
Another reason why you might argue both sides is that you only know of one point of view on a certain topic, and present those facts in order to elicit facts from an opposing point of view. (This is especially true with high school history, since you usually are only presented with one interpretation of an event). What you get might change your opinion.
If you can think of a better way to run government, I'm all ears.
Democracy is the best at managing the two primary problems of a state: upholding the will of the people, and ensuring the security of the people. The problem is simply magnitude: the more people, the harder it is to get everyones opinion in a quick enough manner to act. That is why the US has representative democracy; to ensure timely action on public policy while heeding the will of the people.
Do you know of any sites that represent the other half of the oil debate then?
Although energy is the immediate problem, if we lose oil, we lose plastics and fertilizer. Fertilizer we can probably cope with, using crop rotation (but it won't be as good as fertilizer), but plastics may be a problem...
SNES holds that sweet spot of being the only household console in a period of time. As a result, there were a lot of good quality games... and a lot of crappy ones as well.
Yet, I don't think that 2-D gaming is where its at. FPS wouldn't have become the force it is now without the jump into 3-D. Sure, you can make RTS, RPG's, Puzzles, and Adventure Games, but 3-D just opens more room for creativity.
RTS has to be played on computer, hands down.
Ever played Starcraft 64? Terrible game.
However, I don't agree that PC's reduce response times. For example, FPS games like Halo could be easily played on a controller. It could be as a result of the keyboard though, since there are more buttons (and therefore shortcuts) that could shorten response time, but they only apply to games that need those sorts of things.
Hurrah for N64! (Though I don't play it much anymore).
The N64 dominated FPS (Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, ugh why did Nintendo let go of Rare) and adventure games (Super Mario 64, Zelda, Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, DK64, Bomberman 64, the list goes on... ) completely, which is what I played at the tender ages of 10-12. And don't forget about Super Smash Bros! And Mariokart 64!
Though I have love for many Final Fantasy Games, I'll go with one that is relatively new: Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings for the DS. I love the gameplay, which is part RTS and part RPG. The bahamut battle will be one that I will never forget (mainly because it was so hard, but my strategy was funny).
Runner up: Final Fantasy IV (II in US). Mainly because of that stupid boss that you had to use reflect on because it always healed. Was a good (although irksome) breath of fresh air from the normal battles where all you did was attack and heal, and didn't use support magics at all (seriously though, support magics are pretty worthless...).
Political Correctness is bad because it forces a debate to be argued on terms that are favorable to the people who use it.
For a synopsis of political correctness, see the video below.
The mission statement is really vague, I'll give you that. However, if you subscribe to the sites RSS feed (or just read it periodically), you'll see a massive wealth of information on all aspects peak oil, from the causes, to the alternatives, to even coping with the price increases caused by peak oil.
Well, people have sex with realdolls, which shows that they would screw something that is unconscious...
However, I think you meant something that can change between consciousness and unconsciousness.
About robot hookers: Are they owned by a pimp? Or are they sentient enough to charge on their own? Or are they owned by you?
If it is the first option, then you are probably screwed. The pimp would likely be watching his ho's through wireless internet... and could do sick things as a result.
If it's the second, then you are too late. It is sentient already! It can blackmail you, most likely.
If it's the third, then you are lucky. You can disable any possible internet connection, leaving you safe from the singularity ruining your life.
