What sort of contests would you like to see that would be more attractive?

I think the Maldives are a better vacation spot. They look amazing and seem to have everything a relaxing vacationer would want. I've never been to either but I heard Dubai is a bit overdone, but the Maldives look amazing. Check out the picture below, I mean who wouldn't want to be there?

I think Letterman is much funnier than Conan. Conan does a bunch of goofy skits that are entertaining sometimes, but most of the time they just annoy me. Letterman is much wittier and off the cuff funny, so I prefer his show.

I disagree, individual effort is paramount to the conservation of the environment. I strongly believe in the cliche of "Think Globally, Act Locally". By limiting one's own impact on the environment, one can reduce their carbon footprint and hopefully influence others to do the same.

Simply thinking that it's "other people's problem to solve" is the exact apathy that leads to mass environmental damage. If everyone were to do their part to conserve the environment this world would be a much better place.

After watching Pacquiao's fight against Hatton last night, I think it would be impossible to believe there is anyone on this planet that could take him on right now. While Mayweather went out as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, I think him taking off time is going to hurt him too much to come back and fight Pacquiao.

I agree, I love both but the energy from the students, the hype from College GameDay, and the fact that most of the kids are out there playing to win (vs. playing just to get a fat check) makes college football more enjoyable.

I would like to see the Redskins beef up the offensive and defensive lines, rather than try to get a big name QB or RB. We've tried that many times and it does not work.

I would vote for someone like Michael Oher, the tackle from Ole Miss. Our offensive line only gives Campbell about 1 second before he gets pressure, so I don't think the issue can be solved by getting a new QB.

I would cry. We've put a lot of time and effort into developing this site so I would be really upset if you told me that it was over. Luckily, that's not the case and we're still plugging along.

My favorite city that I've been to is Rome. There are so many amazing architectural, historical, and religous marvels to take in. The people are very nice and accomodating to strangers, and the food and wine is second to none.

I think unsolicited "direct marketing" mail should be prohibited. I get so much junk mail at my house every day that just ends up going into the trash. I'm pretty sure I fill up a landfill each year personally just by the amount of junk mail that I throw away. Since most of them are credit card offers I shred them first, but still imagine all of the trees and landfills that could be saved simply by implementing something along the lines of the "do not call" list for mail.

To prevent this, we've created the "report" function. If you post something accidentally and want it to be deleted, just report it as spam to us and we will delete it. However, if it is an argument that you posted and it turns out just to be a bad argument, we likely won't delete it.

We want everyone to think about their argument and research it before posting, rather than just posting an argument on a whim and then later coming back and wanting it deleted.

Same goes for editing an argument. You can do so until someone votes on it, but once it's been voted on you can't change the argument. This is to prevent people from going back and changing an argument once it's been either up or down voted a lot.

Agreed. There definitely should have been some limitations imposed on companies who took bailout money prior to them receiving it. There was clear lack of thought on the administrations part to provide hundreds of billions of dollars who had made bad decisions before and expect that they won't make bad decisions again.

After all, didn't Einstein say "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Have any of you approached your teachers about using CreateDebate in your classroom as a learning tool? There are several teachers throughout the country that have used it successfully in class and find it very valuable as a teaching tool.

If you know of any teachers who might be interested, have them drop us a line at createdebate [at] createdebate [dot] com. That way you'd have the best of both worlds, being able to use CreateDebate and not worrying about getting in trouble for doing so!

I enjoy having joecavalry around. CreateDebate wouldn't be the same without you Joe.

Great summary! The only thing missing is that the student should use CreateDebate in the classroom as well to practice their persuasive writing and argumentation skills.

I drink coffee nearly every morning to help me wake up, and usually a Diet Coke for lunch. These are primarily to help me to wake up and/or to stay awake.

I also enjoy a nice frosty beverage from time to time, primarily because I think I have a lot more fun when alcohol is involved.

However, in order to ensure I don't get physically or mentally dependent on either caffeine or alcohol, I typically take at least one month per year where I will completely abstain from alcohol and caffeine.

I actually almost went to Washington and Lee. It's a very small school on a beautiful campus in rural Virginia. It's in the same town as Virginia Military Institute (VMI), so there's a decent military presence. It's a great school academically, a great setting, close enough to Richmond and Washington DC if you want a bigger city environment (about 2-3 hours drive). However, it all depends on what you're looking for. It's steeped in tradition and I would definitely consider it a "southern school".

The school is very small (~1700 students) and very expensive (as it's a private school). So, depending on what you're looking for it may be a good fit.

I think CreateDebate is a very useful tool for schools to leverage to encourage critical thinking, debate, and argumentation. You can monitor the language on your debate and use the "report" function for any argument that it is inappropriate. You can also use the "Moderator Panel" within the debate to ban any people who are making inappropriate arguments. I think the benefits of using CreateDebate outweigh any potential risks of exposing them to foul language. Plus, we are working on some really cool features that will make using CD in the classroom even better!
