After all when you consider all the private sales done at gun shows, between family members, on craigslist, with your neighbor, and so on, I think you’d find quite a few guns trading hands without a background check.
You and I have discussed private sales at gun shows before. You don’t think it happens much, if at all. Having bought a gun at a gun show, I think it happens all the time.
In any case, and no matter what the percentages actually are, I’d like every single purchaser of a gun to be required to go through a background check, no matter how that purchase occurs.

As an economic system it sucks. Socialism never made a country rich. I am a dyed in the wool capitalist. I love being the master of my own ship. But, in areas where success of the individual take second place to the success of society, socialism works quite well.
Your fire department is a perfect example. The means of production are owned by the state. Everybody pays in, and everybody is covered even if you don’t pay in. That’s socialism personified. It works well with healthcare too.

The law isn’t clear as to whether a sitting president can be indicted or not. I’ll grant you that. But he absolutely can be impeached and removed from office that way.
