As to any leadership experience she served two terms on the Wasilla City Council, two terms as the mayor of Wasilla, chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors, chair of the National Governors Association, and co chair and chair of Natural Resources Committee and 11th Governor of Alaska to start with and more. She doesn't have International experience, but please tell me what Obama, running for president with 8 years in IL state senate and nearly the same age as her has in the way of international experience? A trip to Iraq and brief Middle East tour a few months ago?

Is it the job of the Secretary of State to work as main representative of foreign affairs or the VP's?

Sarah Palin is a decent choice. She brings a different and refreshingly new perspective to the Republican side. With the time she served as a two term city council member, mayor of Wasilla and Governor of AK and a host of accomplishments in each position, she has accomplished a lot in the "little" experience she has had. Compare this to Obama, who wishes to be President of the U.S, who served 8 years in the IL state senate and 2.5 years in the U.S Senate of which he has spent nearly the entire time campaigning. So is his experience really that much more relevant? What kind of experience does he have that makes him so qualified? Serving on the Health, education, labor and pension committee or Environmental and public works committee in the U.S Senate, not too impressive.

She seems an interesting choice. She is the first woman governor to Alaska, their 11th governor, took strong positions on oil issues for Alaska, balanced a career and family, no small feat, specially with 5 children and put forth serious and reforming changes in legislation, and was very involved with the Alaska Conservation Commission as chairperson and the list goes on. Maybe not huge strides by Washington DC's standards, but it's all relative. As a conservative American women who loves politics, I am delighted to see a strong female chosen as VP to McCain. I am not a soccer mom although my kids do play soccer and not a kool-aid drinker but a free thinker. I think Sarah Palin will be a free thinker as well. No matter what her record, credentials or experience of course it never will be enough according to the democrats.

I have no idea how she is a carbon copy of Hillary?

No way, they are not the same by far. They may tend to know know on which side their bread is buttered and many go for the big kickbacks from corporate America on both sides of the aisle but the similarity ends about there.

1. Republicans still tend to oppose abortion and some democrats go so far as to support partial-birth abortion.

2. Republicans are still usually pro-military and don't believe in appeasing the "axis of evil", Democrats think we can reason and sit down to talk with terrorists.

3. Republicans believe in tax relief and limited government and Democrats usually favor tax and spend policies. They apparently know how to spend our money better than we do.

AND ON AND ON...

No way they're still light years away different!

Two things, first now they are aware of plots they will step up security. His people, supporters and DNC have all invested so much time and money already in Obama they must take good care of him now.

Second, if he could survive in Iraq and Afghanistan he should be okay in Denver.

But of course being on the campaign trail is another story. They will have to take extra precautions.

Having been a foster parent and seeing all the bureaucracy of the system, failure of the system, cost of the programs, wasted $$, terrible parents given chance after chance while failing over and over, and witnessing the horrible effects this has on children It is a tough uphill battle we face. We are now dealing with yesterdays adults that are the product of the last generation's problems with youth crime. The parents are drug addicts, child abusers/molesters, alcoholics, no jobs or futures and the kids are just fending for themselves and growing up without a parent. They sleep in front of the TV with mom passed out on the couch, or worse left with Mom's bad boyfriend alone while she's out on the town. It's heartbreaking. Many seem to become sociopaths, they have no feelings and make no attachments due to neglect. Any attention, even bad is better than none. So this inevitably leads to crime and gang activity, where they at least can get some feeling of belonging and acceptance. Their behavior soon becomes very erratic, crazy and desperate. They get into all sorts of trouble and their parents are no where to be found, probably don't have a clue where and what they are doing.

These kids need attention in the form of strict discipline. They are crying out for somebody to care enough to limit their behavior, watch them and discipline them. Good foster homes work wonders, but they are in short supply. Good social workers are a valuable asset. The problem children need somebody on their side who can give them tough love if need be, lot of tough love.

The Gridiron Gang was a GREAT movie, I loved it

I'd want to adopt a girl from China or India, for the same reasons as below, because first, they are unwanted and second, I have three boys already. It was a three strikes and you're out kinda thing. With adoption you can pick and it's a sure thing.

How is it possible for a bang to create itself from nothing? Something or someone has to create a bang.

There are so many amazing things in this world that are next to impossible to explain, too intricate to be haphazardly put together. A creative genius had to be behind the scenes orchestrating our universe. This being is our God. He created the four chambered heart that beats non-stop in the average person billions of beats during a lifetime. He created animals that have certain adaptations in order to survive in their natural habitat. And the gloriously beautiful things, like a gorgeous sunset with several different hues of orange, yellow and pink, so inspiring that it takes your breath away. I think that only a loving, omnipotent God could create the world we live in with all its complexities and intricacies.

I usually skim the descriptions for something that strikes my fancy or catches my attention. Or if it's a person whose style I like I may read it in its entirety.

I am firm in my established beliefs and in general religious organizations do not scare me, at least here in the United States. Some of the stranger religions seem a bit odd and have some scary origins and practices, like some of the animalistic, Voodoo and sacrificial religions in the Caribbean and Central & South America but they are usually very unorganized. The Wiccans and Skin Heads can be a little bit intimidating but again, they don't seem to organized and don't have too much in the way of funding.

Abroad, the Wahabbis, Hamas and Al-Qaeda are scary of course. They have no regard for human life. They will kill their own kind and fellow Muslim. Their hate is so ingrained and entrenched. There is no reasoning with these terrorists, they wear no military uniforms and use unconventional tactics to kill innocent people. They have no conscience. That is scary!

I usually will use the manual to assemble the item if need be or if I have a problem in the setup. I do keep all the manuals of major electronics or such things in a drawer just in case.

This reminds of a time when I did not read the manual and should have, I used our self-cleaning oven for the first time. I failed to read that you should ALWAYS scrape down the insides of your oven before using the self-clean option. Needless to say, I was on hold with Whirlpool while flames were shooting out the cracks and cevices of my oven. It had locked automatically until the cycle would finish and the oven cooled, so there I sat wringing my hands. I thought it was going to burn my house down for sure.

ALWAYS READ THE MANUAL!

I almost choked on that reply, pubic, public I am getting confused about the whole hair thing. I saw a documentary about some NYC hairstylists who opened up a new beauty school in Kabul, Afghanistan. The interesting thing was that some of the Taliban and their wives were the most popular customers of the newly trained Afghan stylists. So religious, hairy, pious and just plain screwed up men or not, they are vain to some degree. They like their women a certain way that's for sure.

Chemical depilatories, chemical weapons, whatever gets the job done. And anyway, what a double standard, how can the women control their lust with the Muslim men running around in their dishdasha things, which are rarely black, usually white. White being such a cooler color in heat? Doesn't it still take two to tango? And what about homosexuals, how do they control themselves?

I'm still stuck on the problem that they treat their wives similar to animals, and behave like beasts themselves, little better than those nasty filthy pigs they despise so much.

(Although, one taste of baby back pork ribs and I'd be converted from Islam for sure) No matter how you try to explain it all to me, it is very twisted, warped and crazy. And bizarre "interpretations" of their religion seems to be full of holes not holy.

Excellent point, I agree some of those black billowing burqad Mamas are scary looking. I'm positive the burqa does help with the control of the contraception in some strange prehistoric way. But are these men like basic cave men or something that don't have an ounce of control in the bodies? It sounds to me like a lame excuse and personally, I think the burqas are meant to repress the women and control them. If it was for religious reasons, they'd have an ounce of compassion at least make them a different color. Black on a 125 degree day seems more than cruel.

For responsible men in permanent relationships and in a perfect world YES. But that leaves alot of room for error. If maried men, who feel the desire to relieve some of the burden of their wives during the reproductive years, my hats off to them and I say go for it. It would be a wonderful thing. But if it is a decision taken lightly, say, he hates condoms or for some other trivial reason, no way. This is more important than "opps, I forgot to take out the trash, or I lost the remote again". With so many unwanted pregnancies and children born out of wedlock already, this new development could have serious problems. Can women trust men to continue to take something that may make them fat, give them mood swings or headaches? If he loves her maybe? I sure would hope so.

If GWB and Tony Blair were considered guilty of war crimes they would be tried in the court of political correctness gone mad. How can it be considered a war when our true enemy is not a country, does not have an organized army or follows "rules of engagemenet" or The Geneva Convention?

The United States and it's allies have being tried and convicted by the court of world-wide public opinion, with the aid of an over zealous, anti-Amrican and liberally-biased media.

Can somebody please tell me, how should the United States government have reacted when over 3,000 innocent people were slaughtered on Sept 11, 1991? Should we have rolled over and played dead like we did about the First attack on the WTC, Tanzanian Embassy bombing, US.S Cole attack? It was the lack of a responce to these events, I believe, that emboldened our enemy to follow through with the attacks of Sept 11th. Our political backing of Israel warrants the justification of a rogue terrorist group to kill innocent civilians?

Our government's intelligence community compiled data, whether later considered true or false, submitted it to the Executive office, Congress and etc. Based on that, the president and Congress voted to proceed with an attack against Afghanistan, Iraq and any other nation harboring terrorists.

This was with news media outlets reporting 24/7 around the clock and world, driven by political agendas and ratings. We had imbedded reporters that accompanied our military, compromising our strategies and positions, but never-the-less getting the "almighty story" out to the people. Then the Monday night quarterbacks and "experts" could second guess every move, decision and event after it happened. The warped and twisted "Al-Jazeera" media channel could display beheadings of Americans, show the charred remains of American contractors hanging in Iraq and every injury of every innocent civilian over there, regardless of how or by whom they were injured. Forget the accuracy of the report, just report it, get it out there for the public court and let them decide. This has been a war for the hearts and minds of the world, with an unfair burden on the United States Government and military to prove everything beyond a shadow of a doubt. We were considered guilty before our troops hit the ground I think. We are damned if we do, and damned if we don't. But I'd rather error on the side of damned if you do, and stop another attack of epic proportions like 9/11 than win the political correct war.

And, if indeed if it was a war for oil, how come we are paying record highs for a barrel of oil? This whole situation smells of hyprocrisy and hatred. Should we have paused our military on the beaches of Normandy to hurry up and take an opinion poll to gauge the direction of public sentiment? Are we doing the correct thing here? Is that how a nation wins a war? I think not.

There was no mention of the beloved Senator Stevens today in Alaska's newspaper Anchorage daily news on the front page. Having served 40 years and in court today for possible misconduct, I'm wondering what's missing here? There's a story about mass caribou killings but nothing about Senator Stevens. This strikes me as odd since all the major online news sources have it on their home page. He is almost like the grandfather of the Senate, the longest serving republican. And Alaska is his state. Was this buried, or are the caribou bigger news?

Begich has little chance of raising anything near what Senator Stevens has, which was over a Million in the last few months alone. With that much money rolling in, one wonders who exactly makes these donations. And if Mark Begich can't bring home the bacon like Senator Stevens did, could he get elected? Already he has spent most of his own money to fund much of his campaign. But now with the Senator Stevens up to his neck in indictments, some of his own money may go towards his defense.

Unless those same generous donors will come to his rescue now? That remains to be seen.

Supporting Evidence: campaign funding (64.233.167.104)

Senator John McCain distanced himself immediately from Senator Stevens by donating $5000 he had received from a PAC Northen Light tied to the indicted Senator. It was donated to the Flight 93 Memorial Fund. This was very smart on McCain's part as it seems the Republican party needs to dodge every bullet coming their way. With so many seats up for grabs in this upcoming election and rumors flying that the democrats are going to make a big sweep, McCain didn't waste any time or beat around the bush in showing that this is not good for the party's image whether true or not. The Republicans appear to be on the defensive during this campaign season. This is not a good position to be in. With so many issues on the front burner, gas prices, a prolonged war, economic problems on the homefront, this issue regarding Stevens just adds fuel to the flames.

This is true, it is refreshing when a candidate is willing to vote their conscience instead of toeing the partyline. It appears that both candidates Senator Stevens and Begich have been known to think independently at times. This bodes well for Alaskans. It could that Alaskan frontier/wildereness/survival mentality emerging.

This is a good example of how out of touch Senator Stevens is. Of course he is older and can't be expected to be Internet savvy. But also he should at least have a working knowledge of these things. If he doesn't, he should have the common sense to remain quiet and not show his lack of keeping up with the times. It would again be an argument for term limits. Sometimes change or young blood is necessary for a different perspective.

Although it seems that Alaskans benefitted from his amazing ability to get more pork barreling spending and other perks for Alaska I have to wonder at what cost. Would the people of Alaska still be enamoured with him if they knew his methods were shady and unscrupulous? And the money that went to Alaska would have gone somewhere else if he haadn't snatched it up. The senate should be concerned with the big picture and the country as a whole and not just seeing what they can do for their particular state, possibly in hopes of being re-elected and a "Senator for Life".

And should we even have Senators for life? Maybe it is time to consider term limits again. If a senator worked his entire adult life in government and has no idea what it means to work in the private sector or working class, can he really relate to his constituents? Can a member of the senate who is 84 years do the job of a 40 year old senator, or is he limited by his age?

Two wrongs don't make a right could be said for this situation with Senator Stevens. Ethics, morals and values still count for something.
