$1000 for yourself or $100 each for others?

Would you take $1000 from your employer all for yourself, or have the employer give $100 out to each employee?
Mind you, everyone at your work would know which choice you made (to take the 1k all for yourself or have everyone get 100 bucks each instead).

I don't even want to be around my coworkers let alone give them money.

haha! i can understand that for sure (I'm sure some people are surrounded by great coworkers, like family almost, and other surrounded by people they absolutely abhor).

The added fact that everyone would know if I gave it up to them is the clincher. Because if you're staying at that job long term the kind gesture literally pays off. From your boss doing your annual reviews to how easy or difficult peers make your job for you that small sacrifice of not taking $1000 can mean good things at work. And depending on what you do, it might even be a good talking point for your resume when you're ready to find another job.

But note if the amounts were larger I'd change my answer. If it was $100,000 for me I'd take the money instead.

Yes, that is the big pointer....the fact that others would know and since it's only $1000 vs you having to go there everyday for as long as you work there, it would be very uncomfortable.

Of course, if you were leaving the job soon, then I'm sure that would change everything lol. But yes, I agree, due to the social pressures, it might actually do more harm than good if u take the one grand money for yourself.

I guess it depends. If I can pick the employees that get the $100 I would chose to do that. Otherwise I'm keeping the 1k but would distribute it to the employee's I wanted to have $100.

Interesting. To clarify, $100 would go to EVERY coworker whether there was only 5 employees or 500. You simply forfeit 1k for yourself so that everyone can get $100, or would u just take the 1k? :)

I'd take the 1k and give it to the co-workers who deserve it. Basically I'd divvy it up.

I would pick this option if their were more than 10 employees. I could make a deal with them that if they collectively give me $1000, I would let them keep the rest. Actually, I could get much more than $1000 if there were many employees and I offered to let them keep only $5 or $10.
