If I owned them I would definitely sell them. I have no interest in having $19,000 they I will never use. I would rather put $19,000 into a community or group to fund a project or something where overall more people become efficient and productive as a whole and we have newer innovations that benefit everyone. How many starving children or homeless people could be better served by that waste on greed or stupidity? That is like saying "Why should we have money and not them?" The reality is that we do have money, and we are idiots that spend it on stupid crap like these shoelaces - but we do it because we can. I could argue the whole issue of how bullshit the "don't spend money on things you like - give it to those that haven't earned it!" claim is, but this is not the time nor the place. Side: Rad

I know what you mean. It has a lot to do with economics and such. "GIVE a man a fish and you feed him for a day, TEACH a man to fish and you feed him for life" That's probably what you mean by they haven't 'earned' it. So we can use that $19,000 to educate them instead of giving them food. Same difference. Side: Rad
From my point of view, people who have such sum of money and think of buying such gold shoelaces, they are to reconsider their decision, because there are a lot of people, especially children in Africa, who die from malnutrition, and by giving this money to these children this person can save many lives, one more example you can contribute this money to buying some medicine for sick people and save their lives too. Of course that's ridiculous... Someone making or buying that = Feeding about 52 Familes (Family of 4), 3 Full Meals a Day For An Entire MONTH (using Vietnam)! Because we decide to over consume and live beyond our means 52 Families or 208 people had to starve for a month. Pure selfish and unnecessary. Side: Ridiculous
