So the question is 6/2(1+3). We start off with the parenthesis (PEMDAS) and get 6/2(3). There is no exponent, and then we multiply. 2(3) and get 6. then finally we have 6/6 which makes 1.

If it were 1, it would have to be 6/(2(1+2)), those extra brackets make the difference there.

With 6/2(1+2), you get 6/2 X (3). The 2 is outside of the brackets, so from left to right; 3 X 3 =9.

It's been years, but if I remember how to do algebra then it's nine.

It's 9. But alas, I don't know how to do the "new math" which arrives at the answer 9 through 23 easy stream of consciousness math steps.

Purple, because aliens don't wear hats. Nah, it's actually 9. If I can still do algebra.

Side: answer: 9

When you use BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction) the answer is 9.

6÷2(1+2)= 6÷2 x (1+2)

6÷2 x (3)=

3 X(3)=

= 9
