AI Superintelligence

experts suspect we are on the verge of essentially a new era. developments are being made on AI to the point where they should become as intelligent as a human between 2030 and 2080. from that point the AI (either developed to that point running a self improving mutation code or it will start doing so) will advance to become vastly intelligent in comparison and there is much speculation as to the future of humanity.

experts are suggesting the possibility of either mass extinction or technological wonders and immortality once a machine becomes intelligent at the projected exponential rate.

this could potentially dwarf all human achievement in scientific development

what do you think this new AI will be?

A lot of us have seen movies where artificial intelligence takes over the world. We've seen it portrayed Transcendence, A.I and Tomorrowland. The negative portrayal of A.I has not been predicted as effectively by engineers and scientists than by screenwriters. Humanity is greedy, etc, etc- always seeking to advance their technology to make it better. Sometimes sadistically so.

The question is whether we're smart enough to take the consequences into consideration. I chose the benevolent side because, somewhere in the world, there is someone experimenting in order to make this kind of technology successfully. The aim is to better our existence by extending our average lifespans and forming a machine that can store our mind inside it. There are good intentions here- just not the knowledge, resources and insight to make it work. Do we really want to lose what makes us human?
