That seems like a weird definition. People who believe in superstition always believe they have a justification for said belief, otherwise they generally wouldn't believe it.

Or at least that's my understanding of how beliefs work.

I would suggest it may well depend on how healthy the dog is.

Their saliva carries parasites and bacteria that may not be be healthy in some circumstances and there are some things that they may have just eaten that would qualify as a health risk to humans, so know your pet and perhaps avoid the ones you do not may be a good idea.
