A Modern China is greater risk to national security than the Soviet Union

China is a greater risk

China is a greater risk. More resources, fewer common allies, etc. BUT, China basically owns much of our national debt. If they blow us away they don't get paid!

Well China is a greater risk because for one thing the USSR don't exist no more.

I mean when the USSR did exist were they more of a threat to us then China is today.

I chose China as the greater threat, because their is no choice for "NEITHER":

A. China owns a huge portion of the US debt. They have no benefit in attacking us militarily or seeing us fail economically

B. The threat of the USSR was primarily based on propoganda and fear due to cold war and anti-Communism. The fear benefitted the Military Industrial Complex with decades of wars, conflicts and perpetual arms race.

C. Our greatest Natl. Security as citizens threat is our own government and the gradual abolishment of the US Constitution

Yes, eventually. If China really wanted, they could have attacked us a while ago. The lifestyle Chinese have differs from Americans. Most of my friends that came here from China have a total different mentality. They keep telling me that life here is too easy for children comparing to their country.

Parents are very strict and force their kids to do well academically. While we here in North America take it easy and enjoy our life, Chinese bust their assess off like robots to be better than us. Yet they only surpass us population wise. Asia has been holding their jealousy for too long. Eventually they will want to boost their ego up a little bit and stir some confrontation.

It's coming. China is becoming quite powerful and that is not good for us!

Soviet Union was never a threat to the USA. Stalin always wanted to have power within the USSR, he never thought about surpassing USA. Chinese strive to defeat us.

Chinese bust their assess off like robots

thats one reason China cannot surpass us. Their lifestyle ousts the creative mind, obviously the most important aspect for any sort of invention or break through. The U.S. on the other hand, nourishes inventors by allowing a rather rude and easy life.

Soviet Union was never a threat to the USA. Stalin always wanted to have power within the USSR, he never thought about surpassing USA.

Did you miss the space race and the entire cold war?

Your entire argument is seemingly based on a few personal confrontations, leading to entirely false generalizations.

CHINA FOR SURE. AND IT WILL NOT TAKE LONG FOR WORLD WAR THEE TO HAPPEN IF WE MESS WITH THEM

I believe that the U.S as a whole is sadly, weaker. If there was to be a war between China and the U.S.A, China would easily win. Being realistic, overall; the U.S.A is no longer a superpower...

Side: China is a greater risk

No, China is a major source of trade while the Soviet Union was not.

Neither are greater risks for Americas national security.

America is its own greatest risk of its own security and well being.

I'm not afraid of any other country, however I do fear America, namely its military, power, and the fact that we obtain probably the most nukes on the entire planet. I should not fear my own government. They should fear us citizens, however this is not the case.

Sad but true.

Without a doubt the USSR. Although we are currently in a cold war with China...it is an economic cold war. The cold war with the USSR had elements of an economic cold war and the space race but above all it was a national security epidemic. In the 1960's almost every house had a bomb shelter stocked full of food rations. School children took part in drills for nuclear explosion and fallout. There is simply not that kind of panic going on over China today.

Side: The USSR was a greater risk

In a neutral perspective, I believe the USSR is a greater risk for they surpass China in technological warfare, combat tactics, and experience. China was considered a sleeping giant in both wars and was used as a mere bastion by the British and was bullied my Japan. While Russia was a major threat to the axis for it can both attack in their eastern and western flanks.

In the modern day rating. USSR would still out do China for their weapons and military are more trained and are used to war.

How is this even being debated? Unless China starts full out nuclear war, the Soviet Union posed a drastically greater threat to our national security.

Case in point; the Cuban Missile crisis. As previously stated, the only reminiscent idea of a greater threat to national security would be nuclear war.
