It really is propaganda. Their emotional response is not a typical response to something they don't like. I don't like football, but even though it can hurt people who play it, I couldn't care less. With drugs, it can hurt the people who use the, but people seem to want to have a lot of control over those people. It's all brainwashing. 1

I don't like football, but even though it can hurt people who play it, I couldn't care less. Funny you mention that. Way back in the day I was a journalist for my schools newspaper. At one point I did an article about why marijuana should be legalized, and in part of my argument I compared marijuana use (at school and in the world) to football (at school and in the world) in terms of the danger it poses to the participant. I forget the exact figures, but I concluded that playing football for our school was several hundred times more dangerous than smoking weed, and playing football professionally was several thousand times more dangerous. And then I made the point that you don't see me bitching about an activity that I don't like even though it hurts a lot of people, so why are you all bitching about an activity you don't like that hurts nobody? |
