A zillion alt accounts
- A lot of alternative accounts are active on this site
- It's reasonable to assume that nothing said by an alternative account reflects an honest opinion. (Why else cover behind the disguise of a fake user?)
- If a lot of posts don't reflect an honest opinion, then people stop taking posts seriously.
- Therefore the quality of debates dwindle.

That's why I keep pointing them out! I'll be arguing with one person, end up pissing that person off, then I get a bunch of down-votes and get called "ignorant" by several "new" members, and then if it's my debate and I ban them, they'll message me saying the same typical bullshit. Then once people catch on that they're an alternate account, they go on a spam-spree. Side: Accurate
people probably just want to step into other people's shoes and feel whatever it feels like to be hated or loved. probably or they want to figure out stuff about someone specific. there can be loads of reasons why someone makes dual or in more recent cases, multiple accounts. Side: Accurate

I have had some really long and serious discussions with people on here. Some people really do want to have serious debates, all it takes is some attention and a little bit of respect. I doubt anyone who thinks that trolling and bullshitting is interesting in the long run. In my experience, it's unsustainable. I assume you agree that alternative accounts promotes these kinds of behaviours, so why do you think it's a good thing? Side: Accurate
Well, I was half joking, as usual. I wouldn't say I think it's a good thing, just not that big a deal. They can always be ignored and banned. I just think it's a waste of time to have this discussion to be honest. I've been here for three years and it's always been this way. This same discussion comes up over and over again but nothing is going to change. And yes, the alt account trolls can be annoying, but they do increase traffic and can spark some interesting debates. True, but what I am aiming at is different than merely presenting an argument in favor of something you are opposed to. I can present arguments in favor of something like Christianity even though I am opposed to it, because I think the argument is good. I don't think anything would be wrong with that, and the same would go for alternative accounts. But with alternative accounts there always remains a suspicion that they don't even believe that their own arguments are good. If they really cared about these arguments why don't they post them using the main account? So I think it's reasonable to suspect that posts by alternative accounts aren't serious. Why then should responses to them be serious? Side: Accurate
