If a woman wishes to have an abortion, the father of the unborn child should have his say as it is his child also that is about to be aborted. He has a say in it but cannot force her to do something/not do something. Just while we are on this matter, I may as well note for the record that I am completely against abortion.

If his opinion has no affect on the outcome, then he doesn't "have a say" on the matter.

If she cared enough to allow him inside her body then I'm sure there is a big enough chance of his managing to sway her decision.

Yeah that's if my outcome didn't have an affect but if it did that's great she didn't decide to kill the baby.

it is also the fathers child that is being killed so it is salso his call, for the record i think that peole have every right to choose, as a christian i would never let my child do it but that gives me no right to stoip some one else from doing it.

If you and a partner buys a car together, 50/50 but she keeps it in her garage, and sometimes replaces the oil or cleans it. The Male has 50% of the rights to that car, and just because the woman stores it in her garage, doesn't mean she can do whatever she wants with it.

The father of a foetus donates 50% of the overall genetic material to the foetus, so does have a right to whether HIS child will be aborted or not.

Since its the woman who has to deal with the feeling of guts being ripped out of her womb, and feeling like someone has punched her in the stomach a hundred time, and then left there to bleed...........I am pretty sure that its the woman who should have the most say.

Btw...the above description is not a personal one, but one described by a friend

Last i checked, the woman can't make that baby without male "input." Facetiousness aside, until a woman can make a child on her own, the male deserves to be able to put in some input whether or not the woman carries the child for 9 months. It took two to make that child, so it should take two to decide whether or not to abort it.

I think men should have a say, regardless of whether or not they actually make the final decision. This decision, while, yes, ultimately weighs more on the females life, it also has an effect on the males life. Not every situation involved a woman harmed by a father who simply doesn't wish to deal with what he did. There are situations where it was a complete accident and one or the other, or both, are not financially, mentally, emotionally or physically able to care for the child, or they simply did not want the child. A father can not want a child for reasons other than selfishness. It is unfair to tell men 'deal with the consequences' while we give women the option to do away with a potential problem through one relatively simple surgery. I say, if men don't have a say, then they shouldn't have to pay child support if they don't want to.

Woot look at me Necro! I always necro when i join a new place!

I only agree if the circumstances are MAN RAPE and that the woman does NOT want children and the man does. She can sign over rights and he can even pay her to be a surrogate. In all honesty, it does really suck how men have no choice. What if the woman drugged a man and got pregnant by him? Does he have a right to get that baby aborted? Couldnt she later take him to court for child support? I know it is a very long stretch, but stranger things have happened.

She's the one who has to bare the burden. It's her choice alone.

I'd like to say the man should have the say so but that doesn't really make much sense to me? Let's say she wants to have the baby but the man says No! Does that mean she has to have an abortion? Or reverse the situation... she want one but he doesn't.... so she's forced to have it? No! It would be nice if the mother would take the father's opinion into consideration but ultimately, it's her decision.

Having said that, I am against abortion in most circumstances.

This is a decision the woman has to make on her own. It would be nice to see men say I want it but lets face it you don't find too many men who will stand up and do the right thing.

I don't agree with abortions unless there is a medical reason or rape but at the same time no one has to carry the child but the woman for 9 months and all that comes along with that. Not to mention post pardum depression and all. Do men really stay home and look out for them NO.

If I had listened to my daughters father my daughter would not have been around because he wanted me to get rid of her.

"Les hommes... Vous m'amusez..."

Men can state their opinion. Women will consider it.

If the woman wants the baby, she will have the baby. Who will stop us? The man will simply have to deal with it. If he really did not want a child, he should have worn a condom.

If the woman does not want the baby, she will not have the baby. Who will stop us?

Yes men, without your spermatozoon there would be no embryo. Men are also responsible. However, men do not carry the child. Men do not feed the child. For the first years of the child's life, a mother is necessary.

Let us supposing that men could force women to bare a child...

When a man forces a woman to have that child, he is asking her to sacrifice years of her life... for him. If she loves him, maybe the sacrifice would not be all that bad... But would she give years of her limited life to someone she does not even like? The very thought of such injustice angers me...

In any case, the man could not have a say in it. No matter what he says, the woman will have the last word on the subject.

I think if they talk about it before then he should. BUT

if it was a random thing and it was not discussed before about what would be done they can't really be expected to agree. In the end I believe it is the mothers decision, seeing as she has to go through it.

And I'll be like Billie and unnecessarily put my opinion in here although that isn't what the debate is about, I am for abortion. I personally like the choice because if my birth control, which I am faithful to taking, fucks up I shouldn't be burdened with the punishment of an unwanted child. And the child shouldn't suffer either.
